I’ll admit I’m not a shoe guy, nor a fashionista. I consider myself fashionable and care about design and style, but women’s shoes isn’t even on my radar.... so, know that up front.However, I bought this as a gift for someone who is (the kind of person who has a display case for their shoes, has more Pinterest boards than I have pairs of socks, etc.) and it was a resounding success.Also this book is HUGE, high quality, comes sealed and is at the time of writing about 50% less than MSRP ($60) which I didn’t realize at the time of purchase. Very presentable as a gift, has tons of very cool high quality glossy photos, and would not be out of place sitting on a 3K Design Within Reach coffee table.So, for $30 presently it’s a steal. I think it’d still be a win at $60. Viability as a gift for the shoe-obsessed person in your life is excellent.I can’t comment on the content really as it’s outside my wheelhouse, but I’ll give it 5 stars as it was perfect for my needs.

Having walked past Manolo's Old Church Street shop for most of my life, it is always a comforting joy to smell the scent of Tuberose waft out the door every time one of his discerning clients should be entering the shop. I am now lucky enough to be able to buy shoes every now and then for my wife when she can no longer resist a pair so exquisite that her foot in one of his shoes is too fabulous looking for me to say no.This book emanates the style and precision of his craft that has amassed a following amongst women and men of style that mean it is difficult to feel right in anything else. The book is actually a narrative of recent fashion history from the mid 1970s with references of boots, heels and sandals that have influenced the way women have wished to dress from their "soles" up. Clients such as Tina Turner, Jerry Hall, Anna Wintour, Isabella Blow and Kate Moss.I feel lucky to have spent time photographing his shoes at the Paris Fashion Shows, New York and London on the great models and ladies of our time. In fashion shoots and portrait sittings where the women know who the are because they do not settle for anything less than perfection on their feet. Michael Roberts has created with Manolo and I am sure his sister Evangeline a tome that will have any woman in raptures. A fantastic buy if you love your wife or your girlfriend.
