Is the brush sold separately?

No! The brush comes with the dustpan and know that it fits snugly into dustpan for easy storage. I don't know if you have a specific reason for considering purchasing this broom & dustpan. I did. I wanted it for sweeping up cat litter that my two girls spray all over the tile floor surrounding their litter box. The tapered end of the brush gets into corners and flicks the litter out of the grout too! 🐾🐾

How does it do with fine dust?

Not quite sure what constitutes fine dust. This brush & dustpan stay along side of my cats litter box which I use every day to sweep up errant litter. There can be residual fine dust along with the litter that it may take a few swipes to get into the dustpan. Keep in mind that this is on a tile floor and I think if it were a smooth floor it wouldn't take this much effort. Note that the 'teeth' on the dustpan work great for the cat hair that gets caught in the brush bristles. Hope this helps!

For all the people saying it is only 9 inches are you measuring just the pan itself or from handle to edge of pan? 14 is prob handle to edge

9" is the width of the throat of the pan, incorrectly shown as 14" on the Amazon webpage. Depth of pan is 8", incorrectly shown as 9" on the webpage.
