UPDATE: I had to replace this after 3 years. But only because my car got rear ended and the frame didn't survive the crash. It was a little faded after 3 years of being outside 24/7 (no garage parking) but it still looks good. I happily replaced it with the same frame.This frame is exactly what it claims to be. It's all metal. The finish looks durable. The plate sits completely inside the frame so you see 100% of the plate.This is great if you have some kind of specialty plate with your college name or sports team or something like that written at the bottom of the plate that you don't want obscured. You will see the entire license plate in this frame, plus it will give an attractive border around the plate and bring the license plate a milimeter away from the sheet metal on your car which will help with rust strains on the car or other paint damage.If you want your plate frame to cover the edge of the plate so you don't see the edges, there is another one by this same manufacturer that will do that. But those are likely to cover up the top of your state name at the top and anything your plates have written under the numbers at the bottom. It's all about personal preference. Both are made from the same materials and have the same finish.If you want it in other colors it should be very easy to spray paint to any other color. Just make sure to sand the finish down a bit to rough it up so the spray paint has something to adhere to. You can also do this to touch up the frame after a few years of sun bleaching. It's made of zinc so it shoudln't corrode, meaning you can always paint it.There are some reviews on Amazon for plate frames (this one and many others by the same manufacturer) that the plate frame doens't hold up well after 7 or 8 years and that you start to see pitting of the paint and sun fading after many years. Well no kidding....it's sitting in the sun and weather 24 hours a day. It's not going to last forever. But it costs $10. It should last the better part of a decade. After that just buy a new one. Amazon doesn't need reviews from people who expect their outdoor product to survive everything nature can throw at it for 100 years from rain and snow to the rapture.If you want a cheap way to make your license plate look a little nicer, buy this.

Like the fit and minimalism but wish it was stainless... Paint started chipping and rust coincided

This is the black version of the 30630 chrome plates. The black looks like a glossy paint, not as smooth as the chrome finish. My CA plates fit with a little bit of space around the edges. Plate fits on top of the screw tabs - the frame goes between the plate and the car, and doesn't obstruct any part of the plate. The only function of this frame is to make the car look better, and I think it does a great job at that.

This is exactly what I wanted except..... Be aware that on a 2012 F150 that the rear spare tire access port used to lower the spare is too close to the license plate mounting holes and unless you are ready to shave a little off either the plastic lock cover for the access port or the new bracket do not buy it!! 4 stars only for that reason. Good product!

A great frame and when combined with Cruiser Accessories 82050 Screw Covers, Black looks great! I had to use two plastic bolts and nuts (and cut off the excess length of the plastic bolts) for the bottom two holes on my license plate so I could use all four screw covers as my vehicle only uses the top two screws to attach a license plate to my vehicle.This frame looks great and allows 100% of the license plate to be visible making it 100% legal unlike many other frames which would give the police a reason to pull you over.Looks great!!!

If you have personalized plates, this is what you want. I often see people buy personalized frames and they also have personalized plates. When you have writing on your frames, they usually are thicker which will cover your personalized plates. Why would you pay for personalized plates you cannot see? These frames allow all the print on your plates to show.

Frame is nice quality metal, looks nice around the plate. But, it is just enough larger than a typical plate frame that it doesn't fit on my Fiat 500. The top of the frame is too tall to fit in the space allotted, and therefore the holes for the bolts don't line up with the car.
