More like fabric. Much stronger than the film type of stabilizer.

Is this considered fibrous?

I don’t considered it to be fibrous it is thick. But washes away easily. Works great for free standing lace. I do plan to use it keep scraps of fabric together to sew over them and then wash the product away and hopefully have a solid piece of scrap fabric. Hope this is helpful

The backing dissolves, and washes away, so you won't be ironing the stabilizer.

has anyone sent this through their laser printer?

I do not have a laser printer. We used this to make free standing lace as Christmas gifts (ornaments) when we sent our cards

Love It for Foundation Piecing

I use this for the foundation in quilting small pieces into a larger shape. Much easier to use than paper, because it just washes away when I'm finished with making the quilt top. I don't have to spend any time peeling it off like paper and it doesn't stay in the quilt and make it heavier like fabric would.

This stabilizer has been a lifesaver for designs that are too detailed or delicate for tear-away. It rinses out cleanly and doesn’t leave behind any residue, which I was a little nervous about at first.It is on the thinner side—I do wish there was a thicker version, especially for high-stitch-count projects. But doubling up with two layers has worked well for me when needed. It’s also super easy to use—just cut and hoop like you would with any other stabilizer.
