These pens write very smoothly, which makes them a pleasure to use. The only time they might get a bit draggy is when the ink level is getting very low. The ink is a dark black and does not smudge or bleed. I like the thickness of the barrel. It feels just right...not too thin or too thick. I haven't had any problems with the clip breaking, but I don't keep these pens in a shirt or pants pocket. They're usually in a drawer, in my purse, or on my desk. I did break some clips years ago, but that may have been from fidgeting with them.
