The ferro rod works very well. The case can be positioned multiple ways, I use it in scout carry position and this is the only knock. It is comfortable and the design allows it to hold tight. However it does not fit to the belt carrier the best. Not that it is not secure, it just sits high because of the design. I have a modest variety of knives, from Fixed blades, folders, OTFs, and everything in between. This is one of the best all around blades. Solid construction, with a THICK spine and true full tang construction that extends through the handle. Textured nonslip grips are just the right balance between form and function. The over all size and blade geometry offers aggressive cutting performance while finer details like textured jimping on the thumb ramp and perfectly shaped finger choil offer a variety of practical and effective cutting positions for your hand. You can feel the heft and weight of the solid construction, well balanced so it’s not to forward (blade) heavy, with ample handle space to balance the blade. Even the kydex sheath exceeds expectations, tight and secure, no rattle, or modifications needed. And of course, the blade was sharp out the box.
