Superlative, Witty, Literate Introductory Statistics Text
I'm not a "math person," and was compelled to take an Introductory Statistics course as the final math class toward my BA. I approached the course with preconceptions after hearing horror stories from other humanities folks about failure, shipwreck, plagues of locusts, and thoughts of suicide. This is one of the top half-dozen texts of my entire college career. Not only do the authors make statistics accessible and even fun, they do so in a consistently smart style that simultaneously simplifies statistical concepts while not pandering in the quality of language overall, or occasions for clever asides. While many professors will end up using modern calculators for the problems, the text bases its lessons on the use of tables (normal, t, and chi-square). I found myself following both the professor and, electively, the text for a more full understanding of "old school" methods. Each chapter has enough embedded problems (with answers at the end of the text) that the reviews and other materials provided by my professor were often redundant. I wish I had access to the answers for each chapter review questions, but that can hardly be a criticism in my "student" copy of the text.I'll be revisiting this book long after I've ceased being a student. It has helped me have more informed attitudes about statistical products in general, which I suppose was a point of the course and the text.

The quality of the book is great! But for the content
The quality of the book is great! But for the content, if you are a beginner for statistics topics, this is the book for you, since there are few mathematical formulas and there are a lot of vivid examples and pictures, which will make you interested in statistics. However, if you want to get deeper insight into statistics, this book is too easy. Recommend "Introduction to Mathematical Statistics" by Hogg. That book is a excellent book to those who want to do something about machine learning, data science.

Just as expected
Book came as expected, no damages, needed it for my college stats class, helps me go through the problems.

Not as expected
Advertised as new but came in an opened wrapping. Seems like the book was slid back into the plastic, wasn't even partially sealed. Looks like it was actually either lightly used or moderately beat up in the warehouse.Pages have varying print quality, lots of fading and ink stains throughout the entire book. Was really cheap (on sale when I bought it) but very low quality. Not a bad textbook for the price, but doesn't seem as advertised.

A good statistic book for beginner
It is easy to understand with many examples explained in details. It has the answers for the exercises so we can check to see if we do them correctly or not. When I compare some pages in chapter 15 in this paperback book with the ones in the hardcover book, they are the same. We can choose the hardcover or paperback version depend on our need. The delivery date for this book was Oct 8 - Oct 23 but I got this book on Oct 5. Thank you so much for your fast delivery and your good care of the corners of the book.

Nightmare quality
I am so confused by the quality of this textbook… it looks like my kid could have made this in an 80’s middle school yearbook class. The ink is so light on some pages you can barely read the words, and the ink is so dark and thick on other pages the words bleed into each other. There is ink residue randomly splotched on almost every single page. The words are also not straight? The entire thing is printed slanted.Oh and not to mention, it came USED when I bought it new. Big old brown stain on the first page which I hope to god was coffee. The right edges of the books are bent like someone had been bookmarking.Couldn’t even try to concentrate on the content of the textbook itself because quality was that much of a nightmare. Someone needs to check in on these manufacturers.

a classic introduction to statistics
The writing style is amazingly lucid but still very precise and inspiring. The book reads like a novel, which is rare for a mathematics textbook! The notes at the end contain such a wealth of information that they must be read along with the main text. The exercises are enlightening. Very highly recommended even for experts.

Great content but damaged book
The book was kinda damaged because of too tight packaging (as you can see in the picture) which should not be the case. The content is great though.
