So tight they cut off circulation
I'm female and every shoe in my closet is an 8.5. I got the men's Brooks Levitate 4 in a 9. The length was okay, but a 9.5 would have been better. The problem was how *unbelievably* tight the shoe is across the top of the arch. I have never worn a Wide size, so these were Normal width, but the very first walk I took in them it *cut off circulation* to my toes! Also, the reason I bought them is because I was looking for something springy. Zero bounce. Zero spring. Honest: these are the worst, most painful running shoes I've ever put on my feet. I've already thrown out the box, so maybe I'll try to give them away. Never again with Brooks.

Love these!!!!
I love my Levitate 4s!!!!! I work in the health care field so I am on my feet 10+ hours a day. These are very comfortable and form to the shape of your foot. These are a tighter fitting shoe. I went up a 1/2 size reading other reviews. I wear a 7.5 in all nike running shoes and ordered these in a size 8. They fit like a glove! I also read a lot of reviews saying they caused blisters on the heel due to the shape of the shoe but this did not happen to me. No rubbing at all with no show socks. Lastly, I really like how these feel. Almost like they Spring you forward while running or walking. I highly recommend these brooks!!!

First time Brooks has failed me since 2008
Wow. For the first time since I started wearing Brooks running shoes in 2008, I found the pair I couldn’t wear. Since switching from the Adrenalines about 5 years ago (I had several years of plantar fasciitis I couldn’t explain until I was told my arches were too normal for the Adrenalines) I’ve been using the Levitates 1, 2, and 3, purchasing about 2-3 per year. When my latest Brooks Levitates reached the end of their journey with me while deployed to Afghanistan, I went back to Amazon to replace them with the next generation in the same size. About a month later I received the 4s and put them on during the day for about a week to break them in before using them in my normal workouts. Within 2 days of running, biking and lifting I had a blister forming on the back of my right heel and a hot spot on the back of my left heel. In 2 more days my left knee started developing an early patellar tendinitis (I’m a doctor and see/treat this condition multiple times per week). I cut back on my running (from 4-6 miles per day to 4 miles at a walking pace) and started doing eccentric stretches for a couple days. At that point the blisters became more than I wanted to deal with and I started to realize the only difference over the past week was the shoes so I switched back to my older Levitate 3 shoes. During the next day’s workout I had no pain in my knee and haven’t since then.If I wasn’t deployed I would have returned these shoes but cannot do so at this time. There’s a different hard piece of plastic on the outside of the heel that I believe caused the rubbing leading to the blister. The sole of the shoe looks the same but I’m clearly not responding to it the same. Hopefully you have a better experience than I did. But for me it’s a no.

A downgrade from previous levitates
I’ve been wearing Brooks levitates for several years and they have been my go to favorite running shoe. Until the levitate 4s. They changed a lot. The sock part of the shoe is thinner and there is no longer the padding under the ankle bone but they anchored the area around the tongue so you don’t have anywhere near the level of adjustment. My feet were literally tingling from the lack of blood flow. Super dissatisfied

TIGHT
Disappointed, I LOVED my Levitate 2s, But they changed the design of the 4th generation. The tongue is sewn completely in, and fits very tight across the top of your foot. Painful to wear lounging, much less running. They took away the padding in the heel, not a positive change. Shoe runs small. I have worn them three days and the tongue is starting to tear away from the shoe where it is sewn in. Poor design. I don't know if I can return since I have worn them three days trying to make them work. They are beautiful, I just wish they didn't hurt. The more the tongue loosens from the shoe, the more comfortable they get. Just wish the shoe didn't have to be defective to be comfortable.

Run very small
I have worn Brooks for years. I decided to try this series and wish I had gone up in size. They are definitely sized smaller than normal. I have always worn 7.5 with no problem unfortunately I can’t wear these wish I would have known. Bump up half a size

A lot different than my last pair of Brooks
4/3/2021: update. These are not providing as good of support as I would like for walking (having plantar fasciitis and bunions this is critical). Having spent $150 on a pair of shoes, I wish I had gotten another pair of Brooks Ghost tennis shoes instead. :(3/29/2021: I am reviewing these before I've truly been able to use them yet. My first impression after trying them on: definitely buy 1/2 size up from your normal size (in my opinion). I wear a 8 1/2 wide, and a 9 was fairly snug on me but still works. The biggest change from my last pair of Brooks is that the back heel is extremely thin (not like tennis shoes I have had for many years). These are super lightweight. I am hoping they will be durable and long lasting. They are cute, but for the money I want them to last for walks in various weather and conditions. I also have plantar fasciitis and my last pair of Brooks helped with that - so I hope these will be good for that too. Will try to update after I have had them for a period.

Not Supportive or Sturdy
I really like the Brooks Levitate 2 better. The Levitate 4 is not as sturdy or supportive as the Levitate 2. It is very flimsy compared to the Levitate 2. I bought 2 pair and sent the second pair back. The Levitate 2 was not available in my size & I didn’t like the style of the Levitate 3.

Not true to size
Having run down my Levitate 2 shoes I decided to make life easy and buy another pair of the same shoe without fitting. I assumed the new models would fit the same but unfortunately this one comes smaller than Levitate 2 and I only found out when it was too late for me to return, threw the box away, my mistake! Both are UK size 6.5. Hopefully this review will help others not to do the same.

Do not buy!
These are awful! I have had three previous pairs of Brooks Levitate which I have loved but these are so different. The laces can’t be loosened very much as the tongue only loosens half way so it’s a real struggle to get your foot in and then they’re really tight on the foot when they are on. I have really narrow feet too!

Great for running
Slightly large but better than a size 4 thicker socks and they’re perfect

Great for new runners
Brilliant, so comfy and lovely to run in. Was sent wrong size by Amazon 8.5 rather than 8...but they are perfect fit so would say order a half size bigger than usual.
