Kiki's Delivery Service (A Puffin Book)

Such a magical story, many people will know it from the amazing Studio Ghibli film, and the story itself evokes so many beautiful images of cities, mountains, towns and forests. The story follows twelve year old witch Kiki and her black cat as she sets out to make her way in the world, but with her only magic her ability to fly on a broomstick what can she offer? What follows is a charming tale of how Kiki wins over the people in her new home with determination, quick thinking and a strong spirit. This particular edition is beautifully packaged with charming illustrations by Joe Todd Stanton. A lovely story for all ages.

I liked the characters, storyline, the beautiful scenery. I couldn't put this book down as I had to find out what would happen. Thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.

Kiki's Delivery Service follows a young witch and her cat, Kiki and Jiji, on their coming of age adventure in the town of Koriko. Whilst in Koriko they use their skill at flying to their advantage and open a delivery service to help the people of Koriko.If you're a fan of Ghibli, as I am, then you may go into this book with an idea of what to expect. Whilst the Ghibli movie follows loosely what happens in the story, it has been adapted so reading this book is like experiencing Kiki's story in a whole new way.Although this book is written for children, I found it delightful. It was playful and chock-full of fun and interesting characters, my favourite being the woman obsessed with belly bands (iykyk)🤣I'd recommend this story to children and big kids alike, especially those who are a fan of Ghibli like I am. With its 195 page count and gorgeous illustrations, this story can be used to brighten up a gloomy day💕

The original story of a classic film. Interesting and enjoyable.

The characters are so sweet. It is such a relaxing read. Perfect for bedtime reading. Nice to read more adventures that are not included in the film too. Thoroughly enjoyed!

I love this book its one of my favourite animes

I enjoyed 'Kiki's Delivery Service'. It's fun and filled with lots of quirky characters and adventures. Ultimately it felt quite shallow emotionally, which is certainly not the case with all children's books, and so I felt a little disengaged, but I found the insights into Japanese culture and storytelling style fascinating. Worth a read.

Superb book!

This is the book the Studio Ghibli movie is based on and it has very much the same feel to it. It’s a coming of age story that is very cute and sweet. And a quick easy read to get through.

É uma história infantil, dito isso, é muito boa e divertida, se você gostou do filme provavelmente vai amar o livro, os personagens são mais desenvolvidos e tem cenas legais, inclusive preferi os do livro. Sobre a edição: é bem estilo paperback americano, mas as folhas são de jornal (são cinzas e tem até o mesmo cheiro). É um ótimo livro pra pré adolescentes, o inglês é de fácil a intermediário (a autora usa sinônimos complicadinhos, mas não tem diálogos complexos ou descrições muito extravagantes).

I can't believe I discovered only recently that Hayao Miyazaki's 'Kiki's Delivery Service' was actually based on a book! So, of course, as a huge fan of the film, I had to read it! 🤭This story is so, so cute.-Kiki is a young witch who is coming of age, and as such, she has to spend one year far from her family, in a different town.She arrives in Koriko, a lovely town by the sea, that doesn't have a witch, and starts her very own business: Kiki's Delivery Service.All along the year she spends in this big city, Kiki will discover new people, make friends, and learn new things as well.-It really is a sweet story, easy to read as it is for young readers, and the characters are all very fun and cute.It's been lovely to read about Kiki's growth all along her year in Koriko. ❤️
