Simple, Compact, and Effective – A Pleasant Surprise!
I bought the Aroma Housewares Select Stainless Rice Cooker & Warmer to replace my beloved rice cooker of 12 years, which is sadly no longer made. After an extensive search, I knew I wanted something with a stainless steel pot (no chemical coatings), and I was willing to spend decent money if it meant finding a solid replacement. I actually bought a different rice cooker first, but it turned out to be way too bulky.I ended up purchasing this one just to have something small for my son, who cooks rice regularly. But to my surprise, this little rice cooker completely exceeded my expectations! It’s compact, easy to use, cooks rice quickly, and the stainless steel pot is exactly what I was looking for. It may be simple, but it does the job beautifully, and now I don’t feel the need to upgrade. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend giving it a try!

perfect cooker. 1-2 people max
Yes its small. yes the measuring cup isnt in standard american units but so what1: its cermaic- so toxic free i guess2: compared to the proctor silex (teflon coated) the flavor is 100% better... i used to have a ceramic bowl and everyone , EVERYONE, went bonkers for my rice. i moved and got the teflon one and the rice was ... awful i now realise. this machine makes fantastic tasting rice, in about 20 mins .Measurements are normal : for the last decade i make my rice like1 cup of rice1.5 cups of waterhighly recommend for 1-2 people but thats it.its not messy like some have said if you dont load it to the brim because - of course-the bowl insert isnt too thin as others have said. its kinda normal. the thing is small. easy 2 clean and use.high recommendations here

Know what to expect and how to use it
This is actually the second of this exact model I’ve owned. I gave away the first one a few years ago and it was still working fine. OK, let’s get a few issues out of the way first. First, rice “cups” do not equal regular measured cups. It’s not a defect, this is the reality of how rice has been measured for decades and it is well documented. Second, stainless steel is not hard to take care of with minor planning. Rice will stick to the bottom. Soak it for a little while after using and the stuck rice easily washes off. Third, always thoroughly rinse your rice before cooking, rubbing it between your fingers until the water is almost clear. Now, on to making rice. I’ve used a Zojirushi for years but the teflon pot was getting scratched and I don’t want those chemicals in my food. I bought this small rice cooker for making single servings. Unfortunately, it does not do that well. When cooking small amounts, like less than a full rice cup, the cooker gets the water too hot and no matter how well washed your rice or even with oil added, it boils over constantly and shoots out the steam vent. You may notice the minimum water line in the pot is at one cup. So, how about we try making two cups? At that level, it works perfectly! There was a tiny bit of bubbling but no mess of water shooting out. Two cups is obviously too much for one serving though. A quick tip is that rice freezes and reheats very well. I always made large batches and froze single servings with the bigger Zojirushi. You just have to adopt the same method with this one. So, I knocked off a star because it does NOT work for small or single servings but it does work fine closer to its capacity.

👍
This is my second rice cooker from this brand. I had the nonstick first which I ended up giving away because it was starting to scratch up. The stainless version feels much nicer comparatively. Even the cup and spatula that come with it is better quality. It cooks rice perfectly every time. For me there’s always some rice that sticks on the bottom of these. I had the same problem with the nonstick. However some hot water and scraping the bottom with the spatula took it right off. The stainless version is so easy to clean and I highly recommend it.

Doesn’t cook well and hard to clean
I really wanted to like this rice cooker. I loved the idea of a pot you could put in the dishwasher and a simple on/warm button. But almost every time I cook rice in it, it requires two hits to cook it all the way through. We’ve tried adding more or less water and it cannot get it to cook rice appropriately. Usually ends up with either mushy rice or underdone and I feel like we never get the nice, fluffy rice I got out of rice cookers in the past. Also, the stainless steel sounds nice, but in reality it just means the rice sticks to the bottom of the pan every time (I’ve tried adding oil, etc) and you have to soak it in soapy water in the sink even if you are gonna stick it in the dishwasher.Overall poor product, I wish I hadn’t missed my return window. Do not recommend.

Good SS bowl rice cooker
Great rice cooker. I haven't had the rice sticking problem others have had.Only complaints: water gets stuck under the lid's handle when it's run through the dishwasher. Wash the bowl and lid before using it the first time. And wipe down all of the surfaces, there was an acrid smell the first time I used it, am guessing manufacturing residue of some sort burning off.
