Useful AND Durable - my cat and I both love it!
I have purchased flea combs in the past that were made of poor materials and did not last. This flea comb is NOT one of them. The teeth of the comb are made of a strong metal and do not bend or separate. They drag easily through my cats long thick hair and do a nice job of trapping the fleas. Another reviewer mentioned that by the time you see the fleas they have jumped right off again, but I have not had that problem. If you do, however, it's easy to solve: simply wrap a tissue around the comb's teeth right after you remove the brush from your animal's hair and then drop it in warm sudsy water. The soap will kill the fleas but will not harm your animal should you have to get the comb wet. The comb does an absolutely fantastic job of removing the fleas and the closely knit double row of teeth ensures that the fleas will be captured. The handle has a fantastic grip and is comfortable to hold while you are combing your pet. I don't love the color but it's not like my flea comb has to be stylish. One really nice thing about this comb is it doubles as a pet brush, helping to prevent uncomfortable and unsightly tangles, and removing excess hair which can also help put a stop to hairballs. But let's back to its intended use. I do not recommend using this comb as your sole line of defense in ridding your pet of fleas, as it obviously does not kill fleas or their eggs. The comb is great for relieving your cat or dog of the irritation while waiting for prescribed medication to work. I recommend using FrontLine Plus in combination with this flea comb. The FrontLine will kill the fleas on your pet, as well as any fleas or nests the pet comes into contact with for the next 30 days. This medicine usually starts working within a few hours. In the meantime, you can use the comb to remove any stubborn, lingering fleas from your pet and help relieve itching, scratching, and biting. The medicine combined with the flea comb is an unbeatable duo. Your animal will be flea and scratch free in no time and will start to show improvement in health and behavior almost immediately. One last note: Please don't make the mistake of using flea shampoo or flea collars (ESPECIALLY Hartz products which are known to be deadly) as these are often poisonous and can kill your pet. Use this double layered flea comb and a vet-recommended medication like FrontLine or Advantage and your flea problems will soon be over.

Excellent comb for otherwise intolerant adult cats
I have been using this comb on two older cats with medium length hair for several months now and I have to say this has easily been the best comb/brush I have ever tried on them!I bought the comb, not for flea control, but as a way to keep the hair on my two 12-year-old cats groomed. Early on, I had made the mistake of never brushing them as kittens so, as adults, they both hated any kind of brush I might have tried to use on them. And I had tried several different brushes over the years, but they simply would not tolerate even the briefest or mildest of brushing. Then I saw this comb and thought, "well, if not a brush, maybe a comb?". It worked. It took a few sessions of brief and mild combing over small areas to get them accustomed to it, but I gradually expanded both the area covered and the amount of combing. After a few weeks, both cats came to actually ENJOY the combing sessions, and I've been brushing them daily since! And, while this comb may not get nearly as much loose hair as a true brush might, it DOES get enough to make short, daily sessions easy, even enjoyable, for all parties. As a bonus, at the end of a session, hair is easily pushed off of the comb's teeth, leaving it clean and ready for the next use.A couple of tips I might offer: First, try holding the comb at a flatter angle such that the handle and teeth are more parallel to the body of the cat, so the teeth glide over the cat's skin, rather than digging into it, at least initially--that made a big difference in how I got them to accept this comb. Also, they always seem to want to sniff and inspect the comb before I use it. Let them. It only takes a few seconds to do so and it seems to keep them happy and accepting. If you have medium- to long-haired cats who otherwise resist any kind of grooming or brushing, I say you owe it to yourself to try this simple comb. It's cheap. It's sturdy. It's easy to clean. And, most importantly, it works where other brushes may not.UPDATE August 1, 2012:After several months of using the Safari comb on both of my aging cats, I had to come back and report how much I truly appreciate this simple yet wonderfully effective 5-star product. With an initial goal of only being able to hopefully groom my brush-hating cats, I had no idea how, some seven months later, this daily little "ritual" would become a much-beloved routine for both cats! Whereas for years they HATED any attempts at brushing them, with this comb, each has come to LOVE a few minutes a day of me grooming them. One of the two actually gets so giddy with excitement when I pull out the comb that she plops down lazily and purrs madly while I groom her. I have to laugh as I say, "It's a miracle!".

This is an awesome flea comb
I have two indoor cats. Sometimes in the summer I let them enjoy my parents back yard. I don't like giving them flea treatments as one of them is very sensitive and his stomach gets upset whenever I give them a preventative flea treatment. Last week I let them outside a few times on the weekend and I noticed one of my catch had started scratching her neck, so I picked up this comb to confirm my guess. I gave a first pass with the comb (it took less than a minute) and I got a flea. He got stuck in the comb and I drowned him in soapy water. I gave both cats a few passes and I didn't catch any more fleas. It's been a few hours and my cat no longer seems to be scratching her neck, so I highly recommend this comb. Every time my cats visit my parents back yard I'll give them a pass with this comb to make sure I'm catching any little creepy crawlies. This device is fantastic! Both my cats have fine hair and they seemed to enjoy the experience. It also picked up some kibble crumbs and random dust, so it's very effective.

Great product
I bought one of these for my sister when her cat got fleas, and ordered one for myself when mine did the same on the basis of her rave reviews. The double rows caught the fleas very effectively - you don't want them dropping off and into the carpet!I'll continue to use this for general grooming. My cat really enjoys his combings and the short teeth are perfect for a short-haired cat.The product looks well made. Plastic flea combs are a waste of money - you won't regret spending a little more for a quality item.

Recomendado, funcional y bueno
Es muy fácil de usar, seguí el consejo de otro comentario sobre peinar a mi gata y meter el cepillo en agua para ahogar las pulgas, si se siente algo barato el material pero no esperaba lujo por el precio

Much needed tool
I found it smaller than I expected but it works fine on my small breed. It will work fine for a medium breed too. Would recommend it. Wish it was cheaper.
