Improvement over XT Wings 2
Really happy with this shoe. The cushioning is a bit better that the XT Wings 2, it feels more dense and there is more of it. The lacing system has plastic eyelets now, where as the 2 had some sort of a thin webbing type material that would get gunked up with dirt and sweat and then the laces wouldn't slide very well. For some reason, the Wings 3 feels a tad bit wider than the 2.The lugs are more aggressive than the 2 and the upper feels a bit lighter and more breathable, with the exception of the toe box. The toe box is my only gripe, they put a heavy rubber cover of the toes, is too heavy. I don't know what this is supposed to help with. If I kick a large rock my toes will hurt from hitting both the rock AND the rubber toe cap, where as before they would only hurt from the rock. Seriously. The toe cap is overkill. These run true to size. In fact, I think these should be the definition of a 14. Note, I am 6'4" 270lbs and I generally crush off road runners out in a few months, to the point where the cushioning is thin as a pancake. The XT Wings 2 have lasted for over a year of 12-15 miles/week off road. I have faith that the Wings 3 will perform similarly, given the few runs I have done in them thus far.Only once before have I bought the same shoe twice in a row, and that was the Brooks Beast BEFORE they shipped their manufacture off the China (the Chinese Beasts are totally different from the American made Beasts). I have high standards for shoes ( I have to given my weight) so I think you will be pleased with them also.

Ehh want to like them more
I was looking for solid shoes for rucking and getting ready for a GORUCK challenge. I heard about Salomon's and was looking for something with support, but would drain well after being fully submerged. I'm always between a 10 1/2 and 11 and sometimes a wide. I was hoping that the 11R would be on the money since I read that the toebox is quasi-generous on these.First off, as others have reviewed, I'm not a fan of the Ortholite insoles. They add almost 1/8" of height in the shoe and shoved my foot into the upper. My toe was also rubbing against the rubber toecap on hillclimbs making them that much more painful. I replaced the insole with a thinner one from some running shoes I had and it is much improved. The toe is still not designed for generous splaying or for wide feet though. Shame because the rest of the shoe seems real nice, especially the lacing system. We'll see if these can get broken in some more.I'll still give 4 stars as it isn't the shoes fault my foot doesn't fit it. I'm sure that they would be excellent for someone with more narrow feet.

Tough s***
I had an old pair of these I got when I worked at REI years ago that I put an absurd amount of hard miles on. They took me all over Yosemite, every corner of The Bay, through The Narrows in Zion, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, to 14 countries, one Tough Mudder and Dog knows how many hikes and the only issue I had was that the insoles wore out. I couldn't decide between putting the fit as "Fit as expected" or "Somewhat small", I put somewhat small because they're narrower in the heel, which may not be for everyone. I've used this new pair around the Bay Area, Tahoe and Santa Cruz and so far they've lived up to their predecessors. If you know they fit you comfortably, I highly recommend Salomon trail runners.

Sponge Worthy Only
Like the Salomon Men's XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX Trail Running Shoes far FAR better. These are very lacking in many ways. Fit, lacing system, materials, in-sole, and they don't just feel right. New Balance 8 and 9 series are better and cheaper for the 'same type' function. I'd hate to see these wet. When walking they don't hit the ground right and running they are way too spongy, Elaine Benes on Seinfeld would be treasuring these! Knew I should have tried before buying these China glued abominations.09/2016-Front inner sole wore out on one shoe! I barely even use these. Have tried all kinds of different inner soles too. Sponge worthy to trashcan worthy.

Comfortable fit, great quality
Was looking for one pair of shoes to cover distance day-hiking (10-25 miles) and trail running. Although I don't necessarily love the looks of this shoe, it's comfortable and it's gotten the job done. I would strongly recommend them.I first bought Salomon's XA Pro 3D Ultra 2, but the inside of the toe cap had a few hard edges inside that rubbed on my pinky toe and the outside of the ball of the foot. They offer more support than the XT Wings 3 and look cooler/ more rugged in my opinion, but putting on the XT Wings 3 and walking around sold the deal. No rubbing or discomfort for my wide feet. The day after I received them I took them for a 24-mile day-hike to the top of Cloud's Rest in Yosemite (over 5000 ft of vertical gain and loss) and had zero blisters. That is honestly incredible, but of course that may not work for others with different sized feet. These shoes offer just the right amount of support for me (way more than the Nike Frees I wear street-running and casually), without sacrificing too much maneuverability.

comfortable but the insoles fold up when wet
I have used Solomon trail shoes for many years. These are comfortable and work great on very rough terrain BUT..This is the first time I have had an insole problem. These are still pretty new and the other day on a typical 5 hour training run/hike thru wet, rocky, remote trails in Alaska, the insoles of these shoes folded and creased under my foot while i was running! The shoes were wet but my shoes are ALWAYS wet here - we often are crossing creeks and rivers and in all the 30 years of running in wet shoes i have never had this happen before. It was very annoying and uncomfortable and I had to stop several times to try to flattening the insoles, then try to catch up with the group. But the insoles wanted to keep folding near my arch. I will have to find a another pair of insoles but its a hassle and i should not have to do this with $100+TRAIL running shoes.

Top Trail Schuhe

Jeder Zeit wieder.Kann ich absolut empfehlen.
