The right way to rethread!
Used this kit to drill out and rethread a broken bolt on the engine block of a DeLorean. Very good quality set of tools. A little pricey for what you get, but a whole lot cheaper than towing the car to a machine shop to get it done. Instructions are very clear and informative, and the entire process of drilling, counter boring, threading, and finally seating the insert was actually pretty easy. I showed my local mechanic the results of what I accomplished when he stopped by the house last weekend and he was impressed. He had only used helicoils before and had never seen a Timesert. I think I've converted him!

These worked great when I had to fix some bad threads for set bolts that connect my valve cover to the top of the block on a BMW M54B25 engine. The process was easy to do with a tap wrench (assuming you have a tap die set) and a drill. Now the set bolts are torqued correctly instead of spinning endlessly thanks to these Time Serts!

Time-Sert thread repair kiet
This thread repair kit worked great when repairing the threads in the aluminum head in my car. All of the tools were easy to use and I only used hand tools to drive the different tools in the kit. Next time I need to to repair a stripped thread, I will use Time-Sert kit to fix it.

These are a quality kit. But pricey.
They work very well. But not for all applications. I repaired three threaded holes. Used a heli coil type insert for one of the three holes. One hole had a counterbore for a locating dowel. The thread was below the cbore. I would have had to counterbore to the bottom of the cbore (dowel hole) to insert a timesert. The heli coil tap was smaller than the cbore. I just drilled, tapped and inserted the coil. I hope this makes sense as to what I am trying to describe. I now have 6mm and 7mm sizes and will use them again.
