Fits loose so I have to shim it it somehow!

Poor fit
Very poor dimensional control on the receiver cover. Receiver cover and rail are a single cast piece. It took 3 hours of working with files, dremmel tool and a drill to get it to fit my SKS. Rail dimensions seem to be OK. Would not recommend this product; higher quality products are available elsewhere.

... they had to file it down some for a nice tight fit
Received it in a timely manner and surprisingly it needed no filing as I see many people stated they had to file it down some for a nice tight fit. I expected I'd need to do the same but when I did a test fit it slid in perfectly and fits tight. It wasn't the same as what's shown in the picture (it has 2 more picatinny rail mounts) but it came with the scope rings. I'm using it on a Yugo SKS.. I haven't fired the weapon sense installing this item but it feels durable. Good price too.

Quality product and service.
The part was shipped UPS, and arrived promptly. It took an hour of carefull fileing, but fit solidly with no freeplay at all. I used a soft pencil to mark the surfaces so I could see where I was fileing, and a cigarrete paper as a feeler gauge to check the contact points. This is a great product at an unbeatable price from a company I will use again!

Not worth it
Not sure where it was made, it was not worth the money nor effort of reshaping it to fit my rifle. When I open the box to see the product, I notice a large welding mark along the side, it look like someone tried to fix it and left a mess of a weld job. They tried to cover it up with a lousy paint job.IT LOOKED LIKE CRAP. No matter, the product was not going to work no matter how much work or grinding you did to make it fit properly. Sadly it was and is JUNK. The only good thing was the mounting scope hardware that came with this product. They are made well and will last. For all you SKS owners, shop around and take your time to look for something better in quality and price. It's out there.

This was not an adequate fit to my SKS regardless of work, but it may work for others.
Every SKS is different. Manufacturing was generally done to only the loosest of standards, and numerous countries produced this pattern of rifle with subtle differences. As a result, there's always an expectation that parts will not perfectly fit without some work, and I've had to do a little filing or drilling here or there to make things fit before. The previous receiver, a UTG item, cover fit almost perfectly, except that the hole for the takedown pin didn't line up. The Tapco gas tube I bought needed considerably filing before it would fit.Nevertheless, there is a difference between an imperfect fit and a wholly incompatible part, and for my 1966 Norinco, this definitely fits into the latter category. The front was a nightmare to file, in that the shape of the two edges was so far off (not even the right width, a first for me), that there was almost nothing left of them by the time I could get the part to fit correctly. Then the hole for the pin was in the wrong place, but I can blame my rifle for that, since that seems the rule with receiver covers on it. Then came the real problem. When I installed it, the action would lock up. I literally couldn't work the bolt. I'm sure if I took an inordinate amount of time trying to figure it out, I could make it work, but I've already spent an inordinate amount of time on this part. Frankly, it's reached a point of being more trouble than it's worth. This rifle has gone through three parts of this type, the original, one that broke, and a replacement that didn't fit the new scope I got, and neither of the prior two aftermarket parts gave anywhere near this kind of trouble.I've gone with another that has good reviews, and I'm content to never look at this thing again.I do have to write this with the caveat that it may well work for other SKS rifles, but for me, this part was of a level of incompatibility far beyond a little filing and drilling, so it gets a single star for my experience. Your mileage may vary.

Going to need some tweaking to work
Needs tweeting to work but it will work

Nice addition
For those not wanting to permanently alter their SKS, this is a great option. As is stated elsewhere, fitment is required! A little filing here, a little filing there, and you are good to go! Remember to check fitment often so as not to take off too much.I've come to love the original irons much more and have since taken this off but my cheap scope held zero for the time it was used.
