If you need a simple pump for hot water stop looking this is your answer.
I have read comments about specifications not being listed in the description. I guess the description wasupdated as all the questions posed are now answered in the description.I also bought this to use for a DIY sous vide. I will say that I am really happy with this unit. It works fine with water temperatures in the 165-180F range. I do have the pump itself non-submersed and in ambient air just over the edge of our crock pot. While it does get a little warm to the touch it never gets hot and continues to perform as expected for long periods 4-12 hours. As for the priming situation. The easiest way I have found to address this is to set up the pump and intake/outlet tubes, power the pump up, and then suck water up to the pump via the outlet tube. It's just like drinking through a straw. As soon as I see the water enter the intake of the pump I just drop the outlet tube in the pot and the pump will do the rest.I also initially tried with submerging the whole assembly and trying to work the bubbles out of the system to get it to prime. That took like 5-10 mins and made a mess. The suction to bring the water to the pump is by far the easiest and the system is primed and working in literally about 5 seconds.I am actually really impressed by this product and it's ability to handle the voltage, temperature and other specifications listed about it. Not to mention the price point.

Pump does what it says it will, but it will not self prime, and can be blocked from priming while submerged
I bought a VCT VX-79NP - Multi-purpose Universal AC to DC Converter Adapter With Multiple Tips(1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9 and 12V DC) - 1000mA to power this pump in a sous vide bath. This pump is fine, the power supply is a piece of junk, it produces double the voltage indicated on the power supply at all ranges and I'm not the only person who reported this in a review. This pump has 5.9 volts across the pump terminals when the power supply is in the 3 volt range. So if you have a voltmeter you can probably use this pump, but if you don't, you can't. I hooked the marked wire to red on the pump, as my VOM said that was the +.Now, I wanted to dangle the pump into the water to have it circulate it, but that simply won't work. At the natural dangling angle, the pump captures an air bubble, and it won't prime. But if you get it primed, it works well. The large central connection is the inlet, and the small connector to the side is the outlet. Also, once the pump is primed, it will draw water up into the pump if the inlet is enough under water the it won't draw air. The listing is that this is a submersible pump and that the temperature limit for the handled liquid is 100C, but it specifies "non-submersed" and nowhere is the submersed temperature limit indicated, so I'm assuming it is OK for all sous vide temperatures, which are up to 86C, which temperature would be used for some vegetables, and which is still 14C under the limit. The one star is withdrawn for the priming difficulty, and for the missing specification. The power supply got slammed in its own review but there would be nothing wrong with this pump if it were pumping up from the bottom of a reservoir with an elbow so that it could draw from the bottom, or an externally mounted position. I also think that it could work for my application if I could just put the intake and pump in the water, while the exhaust was level or slightly up so that it would self prime.

Great Pump, Small Price
This is a great little fluid pump. Great for many projects and ideas. It rated for 6 VDC but will work off of a 18650 3.7 VDC Li-Po battery. Has its own internal drive circuitry inside. It's also very quiet.

Can't take the heat
Perfect for my home-made sous vide; except that it didn't last a month. Now looking for an alternative. I don't blame the manufacturer, because it says it can't take the heat when submersed. I do blame the seller for a misleading listing which says "Sous Vide" in the title.

Small, weak, unreliable
Very small, flimsy and short leads. Also, be aware that it doesn't stand up to sous-vide temperatures when submerged, which defeats the whole purpose of it being submersible for sous vide applications. The priming is also unnecessarily difficult even when submerged. If you have a *small* sous vide and places the pump external to the bath itself it might work, but given the poor reliability of this item and the weak capacity, it's mostly a no-go unless you need to pump a small amount of cold water somewhere close to a power outlet.

Great little pump
This pump works great, I bought it to use with a water heating solar panel I'm experimenting with and it actually pumps too well. I had it feeding a 1/2" tube 100' long and it had to pump up into a 55gal drum so about 3'. It pumped like crazy, I did have to prime the system but after that it worked well. I need to slow the flow to allow the heated water in the tube to heat the bulk water in the drum most likely with a manifold with 3 or 4 tubes. I have no doubt this little pump with work well. Great price, fast delivery. When I get the flow rate down I will be purchasing another one for the second panel.
