Really bad design for grill on a cart
The grill itself (the grill head) is ok, not great. My low rating is because of the grill+cart design. There is a large opening across the back of the cart -- 5 1/2" high by the full width of the grill -- DIRECTLY BEHIND THE BURNERS. The first day I used it, light breezes/gusts blew out the burners, consistently! I thought I didn't assemble it correctly, but I did. I contacted Blaze service. (The service experience was marginal, they replied as though I had a built-in unit, not a cart, even though I sent pictures.) The initial replies were (1) there must be perfect airflow and all premium grills have this, and (2) just move your grill to where there isn't wind. I looked at other premium rated grills and the first three I checked did NOT have such opening (only vents). As for moving it, there just aren't many places you can put a grill that size in a patio area. I put it where I have had gas grills for 30 years. They later acknowledged that other grills don't have that opening and I just need to move mine. Blaze sells a large WIND GUARD made for the built-in model, so they KNOW this a problem. So here I am with an expensive grill that I can't use if there's a breeze. As for the grill performance when it does stay lit: The temperature is uneven across the grill surface which surprised me because the videos spend so much time on features that create an even cooking area. I first noticed it when I seasoned the cooking grates. The grates will darken as the oil cooks off and the hot/cool areas are easy to see. Very uneven. I then looked at Consumer Reports and they rated Blaze grills quite low on this. Also, it takes 35 minutes to heat to 500 degrees, with all burners on high. That’s a LOT of gas each time you cook.
