High quality - great microphone
I do quite a bit of studio recording and needed a high quality portable device, and this is great. Very solid build quality, great pop-shield and strong protective carry case. The audio quality is very good. On a direct comparison, recording using the iphone mic, then using the MV88, the quality difference is stark. The MV88 is studio quality, the iphone mic sounds poor. Be aware that you're not going to hear much difference if listening to your recordings through the iphone speaker, but once you put on a decent pair of headphones the quality difference is obvious. The MV88 has a tiny bit of hiss when on full gain and recording quiet sounds, but way less than from just the iphone mic, and that's completely to be expected and probably in-audible to many ears. Its only once you go up to more expensive mics / pre-amps etc... that you get the next stage of quality. The app is also very good. All in all - very happy.

Accurate stereo/mono recordings with good frequency response, versatile and compact for iPhone/iPad.
Used for mainly for recording live music (rock, blues, folk) concerts and home instrumental and vocal recordings, not tried for purely classical concerts yet, although my last recording is of a rock band with full orchestral accompaniment. This is the type of item were you certainly “get what you pay for” having tried cheaper alternatives, the Shure MV88 is head and shoulders above the rest, as you might expect from the Shure brand. Once you have mastered the mobile phone app (I use the iOS app on iPhone 6s+ and iPad Pro 9.7”) which is worth taking some time over as the various setting are for very different recording environments and recording targets.Monitoring through headphones whilst recording can be a bit hit or miss with connection (sometimes works straight away sometimes not?) but I’m not sure whether that is due to the app or my iPhone, but whether monitored or not the recordings are accurate, crisp and clear with a very good frequency range and response, with little to no extraneous noise, even though the microphone is highly sensitive.Microphone gain is adjustable up to 36dB boost, as are other settings, microphone setup (there are actually 3 mics within the head) stereo width, compression, limiter, high pass filter, equaliser, wind reduction and left/right swap, with 5 recording environment presets. This microphone only works with Apple products fitted with a “lightning connector” and cannot easily be used if iPhone or iPad is in a case that restricts access to the lightning connector. Overall I am quite happy with this compact microphone.

Great mic even for classical piano, the most difficult instrument to record.
The quality of sound reproduction is outstanding and the set up is very easy and intuitive. You can vary the angle of sound which the mic takes in, you can increase the mic volume a lot. There’s various equalisation sliders for those wanting to colour the recording. Used it on an ipad, it’s tiny and by far the most convenient method of doing a quick on the spot recording there is. There is absolutely no background noise when you crank it up and no distortion in replaying music recorded which has large changes in dynamics. You can immediately divide a recording up into sections afterwards, and saving and sharing files is a doddle. You can fast forward and back with the slide of a finger on the screen. I am extremely fussy about sound and know how difficult it is to get a decent recording of classical piano, which is what I use it for; it’s really outstanding for this (although of course not the same as a thousand pound mic and recording desk!); even recording a string quartet from the back of the room gave really good sound. Thoroughly recommend

Great mic, incredibly poor tripod
As above. The mic is great. The tripod is cheaply made and flimsy. So much so, that I've had to buy something more suitable. My advice is buy the mic only option and get a decent stand separately.

Very good sound quality.
Great quality product but be careful with the little knob that tightens the phone clamp because if you leave it loose it can fall off and I nearly lost it. Everything else is very solid.

Waste of money.
Unfortunately I can only give this product 1 1-star review. the sound is ok, but indoors not that much better than the built in mic, all depending on you requirements of course, but for your daily youtube clip the improvement in sound is not worth the buck. But given just the sound quality i would have given this a 3 star, but what completely drags this down is the fact that you can't use it on an iPhone or iPad with the case on, not even the thinnest possible case works as they have made the lightning contact too short. this renders the product if not useless, definitely a PITA to work with, when in my car I can't use it as my car holder needs the magnet at the back of the case and for other uses you have to remove the case eery time you use it. For the iPad I can't use the stand built in to the case which renders it useless for Skype calls. When you finally get the damn thing on there it only works in 90 degree angle, so if you want to change direction, you have too unplug it and plug it back in the other way. How hard would it be to make the darn thing 180 degrees? Also the indicator showing the left and right channel is conveniently hidden underneath the windshield, so in order to know if the mic is mounted in the right way you have to remove the wind cover. 1 star is generous for this.
