Great product
I am an 83 year old male e who started learning to cook at age nine, so I have seen a few box graters in my life. My grandmother, my mother and a number that I have owned over the years. I say all this to say this is the absolute best box grater that I have ever used. There may be better box graters but I haven’t seen them. Number one it’s large and open enough that even a man with big hands can get his hands inside to easily clean it. The blades are sharp and they grate or slice easily (be careful) it’s made of high quality stainless steel so there is no problem with rust or corrosion, the rubber base keeps it steady so it doesn’t slip while using. To sum up it is easy to use easy to clean and by all appearance very durable. You can probably pass it to your grandchildren. I can with great confidence recommend this product.

Cleanliness Issues
The grater itself works just fine. The issue is with the bottom design and cleanliness. The rubber gasket around the bottom is designed and attached in such a way that grating things (such as cheese) forces food into the gasket between the metal grater body and the rubber gasket. Simple enough to take the gasket off and wash, except that it's a pain to get back on, and absolutely needs to be done with every use (unless you enjoy food particles lining the gasket). With leaving the gasket off, the metal at the bottom is bent/rounded upwards and not sealed, so there is likely food particles also getting shoved in there. The pros are that the grater grates well, and aside from the above mentioned concerns is constructed with good material and I don't doubt that it will be durable.**Updated 1/17/18. The company reached out to me after seeing my concerns and addressed them with me. Outstanding customer service, and an honest company that cares about its customers. I look forward to potentially seeing an updated product some day, and I will certainly buy Spring Chef products in the future.

The most dangerous item in my kitchen
Well it grates carrots as well as hands.. HAHA.. My fault, 100 percent though but make no mistake about it one slip and you will be chewed up as if you stuck your hand into a rabid dogs mouth.

Amazing until the handle came off
I was so excited about this cheese grater! It was absolutely the best cheese grater ever until the top came off. Underneath is a very sharp edge so I cut myself. I snapped rhe top back on, but it easily came off again. I'veowned it for a little less than a year and probably about 6 months in the top came off. So I'm really disappointed because honestly it was the best cheese grater I had ever owned.

This is the one you want to buy
30 year chef here- was in need of a box grater. Wanted something better than the normal metal ones- always bending/twisting/pushing inward when real pressure's used. Spent time looking over options, and picked this one for the following reasons:-Framed/reinforced top and bottom-Full side for zesting- microplaners are nice and easy and give lovely product, but nothing pulls the max flavor out of citrus rind like zesting-Larger size- easier to do larger items and amounts-Convex design- hoped it would eliminate knuckle skin damage Well, after using it a few times over the past couple of months, I can honestly say that it not only met my expectations/hopes, it may very well be the best box grater I've ever used. The metal was actually sturdier than I had expected, and the bottom plastic reinforcement prevented it from sliding around on my cutting board (wood) while grating potatoes. The zesting side performed beautifully. The convex design is an ENORMOUS improvement over the standard flat faced design. For me, this is a quantum leap over the standard products. I'll never consider buying another without the convex design. You can get more of your hand around the product while grating with no jeopardy to the skin on your knuckles, which reduces some of the force you need to clasp the product with your fingertips, which reduces fatigue strain in your fingers. Simply put, you can do more, faster, easier. This is a really well made grater, and I recommend it highly.

On the fence
First off, I've only used this one day, but in that day I've attempted shredding and slicing carrots, slicing and grating cheese, and washing this item. So far I'm kicking myself for wasting the money. The slicing blade didn't slice the carrots, tore them apart in chunks. The medium grater didn't grate the carrots, just kinda threw them around the area. I shredded cheddar cheese using the medium grater, got chunks and shreddings which worked since I was melting the cheese in soup. The slicing blade did work to slice blueberry cheddar cheese. Both cheeses were semi-soft.I'm glad I kept my old slicer/grater, but still have hopes this new utensil will just take a learning curve. The only thing good about it, so far, the bottom rubber piece came off easily for ease of cleaning. Haven't tried putting it back on yet.

The BEST GRATER I've used!
A 'GRATE' product! I saw this and decided to check it out. I wasn't expecting to enjoy using a grater, but this one is grate! I got the larger size and it's perfect! The gratings fall inside the grater and it holds a lot! Often I need to empty and grate more, but this one allows me to grate a lot of cheese or carrots or apples...etc. at one time! Another plus is the rubber on the bottom that keeps it from slipping. AND it's nice and sharp! I think it works so well because, instead of flat sides, they're convex! I'd highly recommend it to anyone for themselves, or who needs a 'grate' Christmas present for someone who loves to cook!

Why look further?!?
I got tired of gripping thin grater handles and having to empty out the grater repeatedly...and so gave myself a gift of a grater that can comfortably handle big jobs. Just seeing this product makes me smile and using it makes me very happy.Someone elsewhere griped about cleaning out food debris from the rubber trim. First, I’m not concerned about that because I won’t be grating raw meat. Second, that trim pops off like a dream if you’re at all worried like that fella was.

Beautiful colour, sturdy grater
Product came just a little dented but works fine and the seller is incredibly kind! Feels very sturdy and the container that fits from the bottom is a handy extra to have. The side where the blades go both ways to create ribbons is also an interesting feature of this grater. Not to mention the colour is simply adorable.I own a Microplane grater as well, but this does the job just as well at half the price!

Strange bent design that doesn’t work
Very strange design. Tilted and angled so it doesn’t sit flat on the counter. Also doesn’t sit at any reasonable angle for grating. Hard to think anyone could grate anything with this. Would not recommend. Many cheaper options that actually work available.
