Does set replace a tap and die set?

No. This does not replace a tap/die set if you want to cut new threads. This is for cleaning up damaged existing threads.

Will it work for a transmission line tread into the transmission measure 18mm

16mm is the biggest internal thread this set will handle there is a lager set that will do 18mm I have seen.

will this work on a 2.5 ID straight pipe thread?

I have used it on pretty big bolts not sure a bout 2.5 I would check the specs but this is good quality stuff

Will it work with a M14 internal thread?

Yes the large internal rethreaded goes that big.
