So it's really easy to put together. It comes in 2 pieces, 3 screws and 1 screwdriver. Although your gonna need a phillip's screwdriver because it came with a flat head that was completely useless. What I like the most is that the magnets are on both sides so you can add additional scissors, sharpener or whatever you prefer.

I really wanted to be able to give this product a 5-star. It's good looking and heavy enough not to shift around. BUT – I couldn’t. The "enhanced magnets" are strong, but not quite strong enough. I have a mix of knives, but note this rack won't "hold" one of them - a major brand - at all; and it’s barely adequate with my primary knife, a Wusthof.This rack holds these knives very strongly:* 12” Victorinox serrated bread slicer* 12" MAC knife (Japanese)* 4" Kuhn paring knives* 6" Wusthof Gourmet Santoku knife (Gourmet line has no bolster and a lighter weight handle than the Classic series; this length is no longer sold)The rack holds this knife, but not as securely (e.g., the knife always feels like it wants to ‘slide’ down towards the base):* 10" Wusthof Classic chef's knife - BARELY strong enough to hold it vertically; the weight of the handle and prominent bolster are almost too much for the “enhanced” magnetsThe rack will not hold this knife at all, which really surprised me:* 6” Henckels utility knifeNote that the magnets are ALL at or near the top. The “pull” quickly gets progressively weaker towards the base (this enables you to pull the knife away without tipping over the rack).

Just assembled my knife block and I love it. The predrilled holes for the screws were perfectly aligned for the finished product and it was easy to attach the base to the magnetic block. I’m probably more impressed than I should be that they included a Phillips head screwdriver in the package.My knife block has lovely variations in the wood grain color for some nice visual interest. The wood is sanded smooth, so no worries about splinters, and is not polished at all. I think I’m going to oil mine a bit to improve the finish, but that’s for my own personal preference.I would definitely recommend this product. The smaller footprint, as compared to a traditional knife block, is fantastic, and it showcases the beauty of my Japanese knife set to its fullest. It holds all of my kitchen knives well and it is still easy to grab my knives for use. Note: sliding the knife up works more smoothly vs pulling the knife away horizontally- duh ;)Anyway, if you’re on the fence about making this purchase I would say go for it. It feels sturdy enough for its task and is a much more attractive option than your grandmas old knife block.

I bought this as a gift and decided to assembly it before giving--thank goodness! The screws and screwdriver this comes with do not work. The screws are much too small and when used just slide right out of the predrilled holes in the board. Screwdriver is a flathead for some reason. I used 2" #8 screws and they worked like a charm.Once assembled the product looks great and feels sturdy. I think it could be improved by having a heavier base. If you try to pull a knife off straight-on (versus sliding it off the side or at an angle) you'll pull the board down. Taking off a star for this and the useless included hardware, but I am happy with the purchase overall!

I was looking for a storage block for my Rada knives and utensils. I always keep them separated from the other knives since they are not dishwasher safe. Started look for a flat knife tray and came across this item. It's PERFECT! Very well made, study, the magnet is super strong and it takes up little space on our island. The wood grain pattern is lovely. Great product! Packaging was very nice. I bought a similar block which got lost in shipping and was delivered the next day even after I canceled the order. It was not the quality of this one and was less expensive! REALLY GREAT PRODUCT! Worth every penny!

Ok, so we moved and I have a very expensive kitchen knife collection. I needed someplace to put them and I was feeling lazy and not wanting to attached another magnetic knife holder to my kitchen wall. So, I purchase this. Long story short, it's not great. The magnets are not very strong, it takes up to much space for my particular kitchen, and I just didn't like the look. So, I gave it away and installed a wall mounted holder. I really wanted to like this item, but it's just not very practical. Like I said, the magnets are not great. I had some knives slipping but some stuck well. Meh...it just wasn't great. After you get the knives on it, it almost looks like its to cluttered. I don't know...I just would not purchase it again, but it may work for you.Hope this helps.

This solved my knife storage problem. This takes up very little space. It is so convenient to see your whole knife, rather than searching through your knife block, especially if your handles all look alike. It is very sturdy and safe, making it so easy to grab the knife you need. When not in use, the knives stay put, no slipping. I'm so glad I got this.

I like the Acacia wood as it is nicely grained. It is just what I wanted. Just arrived this morning and earlier than expected.

Wood finish is really nice. Was very easy to assemble and is quite sturdy.
