Excellent quality
Have ordered these at least 70 times (I think?) for our flurry of backyard squirrels (they can't get enough). Very high-grade. It's a great price, and more than good enough to use for home cooking or baking. The squirrels (and we) agree...they're very tasty!

Delicious
Hazelnuts as well as walnuts get quickly rancid once out of their shell. I've been purchasing Anna and Sarah walnuts for a while and decided to try their hazelnuts. They are fresh and delicious.

Too many have cracked shells
Bought these in Sept 2022 as I did not have good luck when bought the same brand of shelled hazelnuts (many were going bad - got a refund), so decided to try a big bag of in-shell, as maybe they would be less likely to be going bad.The 5 lb bag I received has Lot number AS195C24522, expires Sep 1, 2023. I am not sure if it was cost effective, in terms of what I paid per pound of actually edible hazelnut. But for sure, what made it better is I could separate out the ones that already had cracks in them and were less likely to be as fresh. This particular bag has quite a few cracked ones, as well as empty ones. And some of these nuts have marks that look like somebody tried to crack them open before me! Those were still intact, but have not seen that before. Probably some critters were interrupted when working on getting food. But I am going to keep trying other sources - if I buy in shell hazelnuts, I want their shells to be intact.

Squirrels LOVE them; subscribe and SAVE!
Our squirrels LOVE these hazelnuts in the shell. We always put out nuts in the shell because they need them to help grind down their teeth. The front teeth of squirrels continue to grow throughout their lifetime so they have to find foods and other means to grind them down. I'm glad to contribute to their health and they LOVE these! I get these on the Subscribe and Save program so I never run out.The most healthy nuts with the best nutrients and lower tannins are hazelnuts, walnuts, and white Oak acorns IN the shells. Don't feed squirrels peanuts because those are HIGH in tannins, are hard to digest, and prevent the absorption of other nutrients. Also don't feed them highly processed people food like peanut butter or other processed foods, salted nuts, etc.

I like so much I joined subscribe every month
* update 1/30/25: thought I had sent review! I did get 1 shipment not good and got credit! This last batch is good but nuts seem smaller. I’m thinking seasonal and will continue orders! I am loving Hazelnuts and read they are a VERY very healhy nut. I got a few here and there not good but FIVE POUNDS so its expected. I eat them daily so I joined monthly subscription. When I eat daily I share "3" per day to my 2 squirrel buds "Rocky & Bullwinkle". ;-)

Not as described
I've never seen such tiny hazelnuts! These are *NOT* large as described. I'm also not certain they are from Oregon as they are packed by a company in New Jersey? Really? Even with all that they are not sweet and fresh. I just threw them out.
