Love playing with it
Cute little lock to add to my collection! Love playing with it.5 stars for it working as intendedFor those who do not know about the major security exploit of this product then read below. This is a warded padlock. This design is one of the oldest to date that is still being used today. In the lock there are little metal plates called wards that prevent the wrong key from turning. The key is flat and has slots cut into it, so the correct key with have a slot cut into it where each ward in the lock would be so the key can rotate to unlock the lock.If you wanted to bypass this lock all you have to do it grind away both sides of your key to make it look like a T shape. Once your done, you will have yourself a nice little skeleton key. This key will be able to open up any other Master Lock warded padlocks and chances that you will be able to open up many other warded padlocks from other manufacturers. If you really want more security I would go with a padlock that uses a ball bearing locking design to prevent shimming, and it to be a pin tumbler based design. If you want an actual lock I would at least pay around 15 dollars or more.

You have GOT to be kidding me!
I have never seen a padlock like this in my life (except perhaps in the toy aisle of a department store). Take a look at the "key" that was supplied (there were two of them): simple and symmetrical as the pattern on the edge of a postage stamp! I can see why they didn't show us a picture of these in the ad: If they manufactured a thousand, how would one be any different from another? Let's all open each other's locks---shall we? The keys insert with all the grace of a toothbrush into a cylindrical carrying case. Hold this "hardware" upside-down and shake and it rattles like a tambourine! Seriously. You can dangle the key above the mechanism and literally drop it completely inside, then turn it around 360 degrees (continuously) in either direction. It's not broken; that's how it was designed to operate! Its gaping slot looks like the smile on a jack o'lantern. Yes, and "skeleton keys" won't be necessary to pick this lock: an old hacksaw blade should be sufficient. I guess next time I'll do a little more research beforehand ("caveat emptor"). Nonetheless, I originally clicked on this rather cheap option because I thought I was buying from a reputable company, yet in retrospect I realize I shouldn't have let Master bait me.

Works for plastic covered cable
Its not bad, actually looks wider then it actually was. I needed a little wider lock to accommodate a cable that was a little thick but it still worked. Prefer a little wider lock but it worked without having to buy a humongous lock.

It's a lock! Oh my!
I needed a new lock for my storage unit and ordered this. I'm happy with it, it's sturdy like a typical Master Lock. I'm terrible with judging the size of something based off of measurement, so it was a bit of a crap shoot for me. This was smaller than my last lock but still fit, so I'm happy. This lock, when opened, remains attached at one end while the other swings loose. It came with 2 keys. Very sturdy and compact.

Basic lock but beware of simple keys
This lock is pretty basic and gets the job done. The only issue is that the keys are VERY simple. I ordered 3 of these locks and although each lock had slightly different keys, each was VERY simplistic. Therefore, I wouldn't suggest this lock for anything that needs real security. We use them on our outdoor sheds mainly to deter. If someone wants to get in the sheds bad enough, they'll just cut through the plastic walls. So, for this usage, these locks are perfect.

Its OK, nothing more.
We lost our gate lock and purchased this as a replacement. JUst after receiving this lock, we found the original. We're keeping tis as a backup. It is much smaller than we thought and doesn't seem to be terribly robust in construction so I wouldn't recommend that you place a geat deal of confidence in the lock.

It is what it is.
Nothing to be super excited about. My son needed a keyed padlock for his locker - this one does the job!

Extremely cheap - can open with anything
So this thing is stupidly cheap, its more of a honor system or a visual detour than any actual security. The key itself is just a flat bit of metal with a couple chunks out of each side, its basically a flat bare chunk of metal. The lock itself functions very badly with its crude "key", this is not a high secuirty lock with a key guide along the bottom of the key with ridges on the top.. this is just a crude flipper to flip the inside when you twist it, sometimes it doesnt even work with the correct key; as in; you'll turn the key but it won't hit the flip but will spin as if it did, so you turn it again and it gets it.... This is by far the most ghetto lock I've ever had and I've bought dollar store locks before that where higher quality than this.Don't get fooled by the "master" on it, it means absolutely nothing; this lock is akin to having a security camera with a battery in it that powers a led light, that isn't hooked up to anything else and is not recording; its the honor system and you hope someone doesnt take a closer look, I know I hope nobody takes a closer look at mine.

So far so good for me though
Feels solid and has worked well so far. I use it on a locker at work, so I don't need a super-secure lock. The relatively generic looking key is a concern as another reviewer has mentioned. I'm not in a high traffic area or a large locker room, so I don't have concerns about others trying their keys in my lock.If it is true that different keys work in these types of locks, then think about where you plan to use this! So far so good for me though...

Good lock
Works very well as expected. Nobody tried to break it yet so I can't review its protective abilities ;)
