"B" Is for Betsy (Betsy (Paperback))

Many many years ago, B Is For Betsy was the first chapter book I read. Several months ago I discovered it in the library and decided to read it to my preschoolers who are mostly 4 and 5 year olds. Because times have changed for discipline in schools, I skipped a few sentences on page 2, because I thought it might worry the younger children, Where a first grader or older student would be OK. I shared the parts with parents. When I had finally finished reading the book to my preschoolers we had a B Is For Betsy party. I even bought each child their very own copy. I was thrilled to learn that several parents are reading it again to their child. I found this book not only very educational, but fun to share with my students.

This is such a darling little book. I look for good and wholesome books to read to my child and this fits the bill. It was on the book list recommended by The Good and The Beautiful and it has not disappointed us. My daughter looks forward to read aloud every day and loves this book.

My 8 1/2 year old daughter just finished reading this book last night. She was thrilled with the story angles all the way through and couldn't wait to share with us what was happening with Betsy and her classmates. It's not her first chapter book, but it is the first chapter book she insisted on getting the next one in the series, and we will! She was able to totally relate to the story even though Betsy was going into 1st grade, and my daughter is in 3rd grade.I would highly recommend this book as a good - clean - fun story telling book for young girls.

I read this 1939 classic I was in 4th grade reading the entire "b" is for Betsy series with a great hunger for the next adventure. I bought the first book for my 9 year old daughter and wondered if it would cross the generations as well as it did when I was a girl. Sure enough, my daughter and I read 2 chapters a night over Christmas Break and she loved it! Carolyn Haywood continues to capture the hearts and minds of a new generation, truly the sign of a great classic!

The author Carolyn Haywood spent a lifetime writing timeless children's stories to be enjoyed by people of all ages.

My 1st grader loved this book! She had fun reading it and once she started, she couldn't stop until she finished it in less than a week. My little one is looking forward to reading the next book recommended in the last page of this book. Highly recommended! Thanks for everyone who posted their reviews recommending this book.

Granddaughter(age 6) loved it; she could related to Betsy's apprehension about going to a new school. It helped her get ready for her new school.

Truely one of my favorite kids books! Our whole family loves this series . I have read them all the my kids and now grandchild loves them. "One more chapter, grandmother, pleaseeeeee"! How can I resist that request!
