Best Single 14500 yet
I like these small 14500 flashlights.1 - They are bright2 - They are small enough to go anywhere. Shirt pocket, glove compartment etc. I keep one in each car3 - Best of all is the battery. The 14500 is a great choice. Has the power of a lithium ion but in a pinch you get put a AA that you can get anywhere. Try getting an emergency 18650 at your local WAWA!Of course the form factor comes at the price of short run times. But a worthwhile trade off.Unfortunately when I went to the nitecore site it looks like they've discontinued all 14500 models. A shame since they finally got the controls right in this model. Simple on/off at the tail that while not very stable can be stood up tail down. And for normal use just up and down brightness that devolves in to the red settings. Finally a flashlight with a good user interface.

The best edc light from a gear junkie
This is the ultimate edc light especially for ccw with back clicker and instant on to strobe. The 14500 batt is more than enough runtime and output vs 18650 for weight. Easy to use, durable and well made this is my everyday light. You don’t know it’s in your pocket.

Beware of single AA LED flashlights if you only use 1.5V alkalines
I've tried at least 2 different brands of single AA LED flashlights because I like the size. However, I only use cheap 1.5V alkaline batteries and all lights I have used like this have had electronics failures in a year or less. They just cannot handle the low voltage. If you use the high output batteries, which I think are Lithium Ion?, they probably perform well, but that was not how I wanted to use them.So I have switched to 2 AA LED lights and, so far, no failures.

finally found the right light
now, this light has options that I really do not need. with this light, the options stay out of the way 'till I need them or not. I hated, with other lights, having to turn it on and then cycle through other buttons to get the light I want. with this light, I set it and it stays that way, I do not need red, S.O.S., strobe, etc.. this is a nicely built, rugged, reliable light at a fair price.

Love this flashlight. It's the second time I've bought it! Bright af with 14500s.

Multi purpose power house flashlight
I have been looking for a flashlight that can accept all AA battery chemistry with a tactical momentary ON with high output. This torch ticks every box. I also like that fact that this torch has a Red led for night map viewing as to not destroy your night vision. Other special modes include a red beacon, which could be used as a road hazard flare. Another great feature is the ability to check battery status via red blinking to indicate volts and milliamps. This is crucial with 14500 batteries because if you run them too low and go to charge them you might damage the light and battery. Other cool features is the ability to manually ramp up the light output up and down to your desired lumens or you can even go straight to Max or straight to red led.So far this light has exceeded all my expectations and plan on getting a backup.

Durability not good imo
I’m not sure if all modern flashlights are made this way but my flashlight was dropped from about 4 1/2 feet and stopped working, I bought a 2nd one & it stopped working after a few 2 1/2 ft drops.
