The first ever-Danish black comedy gangster film. A rip-roaring tall story packed with armed robbery, explosives and sudden death, all perpetrated with the best intentions because the film is about all the disasters a guy unleashes when he is determined to help other people. Arvid (Dejan Cukic) and Harald (Kim Bodnia) are brothers. But there the resemblance ends. Arvid is a quiet bank clerk. Harald is a tough crook. Arvid is the hero of the day when he thwarts a bank robber but by doing so he discovers that he has tampered with somebody elses destiny. Awesome movie
It provides both humour, action and a lot of food for thought. One should question why we consider something good, bad, moral or immoral..

Violent but funny
As a Danish-speaking American, I'm always looking for good films that provide opportunities to hear Danes speaking Danish. This is not the type of film I usually enjoy (films like Italiensk for begyndere, and just about anything of Bille August, are more to my taste)... but something about the reviews made it seem worth trying - and I'm glad I got it, because it's FUNNY!As another reviewer mentioned, it's very Scandinavian humor - and there is a LOT of violence in the film. The scenes with the English-speaking "American", especially the one at the end of the movie, were the only disappointments - the movie did a fine job with its message of "no matter what you do in life, it's ok as long as you meant well" without those distracting elements.Well-acted, well-filmed and highly entertaining!

An enjoyable crime comedy.
This is an entertaining crime comedy with an all-star Danish cast (Kim Bodnia, Dejan Cukic, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Trine Dyrholm, Jesper Christensen and many others) and a plotline reminiscing of films such as ''The Snatch'',''Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels'' or ''RocknRolla'', but retaining the special Nordic characteristics in crime fiction. The story revolves around the relationship between two brothers (played by Cukic and Bodnia), having totally different personalities and character traits from one another. This is a film that contains many funny -even sometimes hilarious- dialogue and scenes and it can be categorized into the ''black comedy'' genre. The acting is great, the action scenes are well-shot and overall ''In China They Eat Dogs'' is a movie that can be compared with the more expensive English and American productions. Here, we meet again the actor who impersonated Radovan in the ''Pusher'' trilogy by Nicolas Winding Refn, named Slavko Labovic in an almost identical role. The main antagonist in the film is the Serbian mafia, as usual in Scandinavian crime fiction books and tv productions, and Labovic is a kind of top henchman for the Serbs. In my opinion, this is a film that will be highly appreciated by the -many- fans of Danish cinema and Scandinavian crime film productions in general.

"Won't you help me"
Two brothers ,the psychotic gangster Harald(Kim Bodnia) and the self effacing bank clerk Arvid(Dejan Cukic),are drawn together after a long separation after Arvid foils a robbery at his bank but feels guilty when it transpires that the robber and his girlfriend were going to use the money for fertility treatment.Together with the help of Peter(Tomas Jensen)and Martin(Nickula Kaas)they create mayhem as they seek to do the right thing hijacking armoured trucks, annoying a gangland rival Ratko(Slavko Laboure) and killing everyone that gets in their way.Jet black comedy is best not taken seriously as in Harald's world anything goes.Terrific performances throughout(Bodnia plays it straight to hilarious ends) and Anders Thomas Jensen's script is both inventive and side splittingly funny with a truly bizarre(but absolutely perfect)ending.Followed by an gem of a "sequel"Old Men In New Cars.
