Controls Jumping
I purchased this device to control the jumping my dog does when he greets visitors. Even though he is only 25 lbs he is too big to jump on my young grandchildren and let's face it, not everyone wants a dog to jump on them. I won't say that he is cured but I will say that his jumping has diminished and I have hopes that we we ultimately be successful. My only complaint is that the power switch is not instantaneous. It takes around 3 seconds for it to turn on which can be a long 3 seconds when you want immediate correction. I have it by my front door so I am ready. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I don't have as many visitors as I used to and it has reduced the number of opportunites for training but I do see an improvement.

Very helpful, not just worth my dogs, but for me as well (^_^)
I have two Chihuahuas, Benji, and gizmo and they both have really bad separation anxiety sense to be quite honest, I’m kind of a recluse/a homebody. My definition of a perfect day or evening is spending time with my dogs, rather than going out and partying, lol.(I think I got all of that partying and going to clubs out of my system in my 20s, and I’m now about to be 33 soon in about a couple weeks.)So, I was trying to find a solution for my babies because every time I would go out even just to take the trash out which would just take a few minutes since I live on the third floor with no elevator and the trash dumpster and recycling is just around the corner of my apartment building and when I am coming back up the stairs, I can hear one or both of them barking hysterically because I had left. (Actually, I can hear them barking even before I am walking up the stairs, lol. I hear it right as soon as I open the door into the lobby downstairs from outside. Before I purchased the ultrasonic, Bart controller, I had purchased another type of ultrasonic bar controller. The kind where you put it on the wall near where your dogs would be, and when you would leave, you would turn it on and I’m sure if you are reading this review you have seen those types that looks like a brown rectangular small box size with three dials for intensity. In the beginning, I thought it was working OK but in the end, I realize that my dogs could just get away from the device as far as they can and plus quickly overtime gizmo didn’t care about the device and the ultrasonic noise he was given off so he would keep on barking nonstop and I could tell that Benji didn’t like it so it was just torturing him. (and another huge thing that I think you guys should know about those rectangular ones that you can hang and turn on when you leave is that most of them or at least the one that I got, which is probably identical to all the other ones on Amazon is really sensitive to noise. so I can see the red light going off not just when they’re barking but even when I’m just walking around in my apartment or I even went, saw the light going off when I was going through my hangers and changing my clothes, and the device wasn’t even that close to where I was! It was on the complete other side of the room. And plus I tend to be really forgetful sometimes so when I would get home, I would forget to turn off the device and it took me a while to noticed that even when I was home and the dogs were happy to see me and would stop barking I was still setting off the device by me just moving about the apartment and then I felt horrible once I finally noticed that the sensor on that thing was super super Duper sensitive. So I don’t even use it anymore, but if and when I do which is rare like for instance, if I’m going out and I know I’m gonna be out for a while I will turn it on and now that I know that the sensor is super sensitive. I turn it off immediately when I get home but honestly I haven’t use that thing in forever that I actually can’t even remember when the last time it was that I used it.)So after that experience, I tried looking for something a little different and came across this, and I like the fact that it was a remote controller, and the reason why I said that it also helped me as well in the title is because it has a flashlight function. And to be very honest again, I own a few flashlights because I’m always losing things or trying to find things that I’ve misplaced and surprisingly and funny enough, out of all the flashlights that I’ve already owned. I always use the one that’s on the ultrasonic bar controller because the light is actually pretty bright and works well and it’s rechargeable. Now, regarding the bark controller itself just like before gizmo isn’t as affected by it as Benji is, but I like the fact that it’s a controller so I can use it on gizmo away from Benji so it does not affect him. And also, I quickly noticed that it works a lot better than the previous one that I had purchased.Just like the other one, the controller has three settings as well, level 1, 2, and 3 which you can change using the buttons on the controller. And since it’s a controller, and you can use it easily and quickly with your hands, it’s very effective. For example, when gizmo is barking, because a stranger has entered my apartment (because he always says that) I can use the controller and quickly change from different levels, and that seems to work on him. The fact that I can quickly change the different settings so he doesn’t get used to one is awesome and does work because I have done a lot of research and read that how ultrasonic park controllers of any type that sometimes some dogs get used to the sound of a specific frequency that obviously we as humans can’t hear but they can and that they just ignore it and will keep on barking. Which was the case with gizmo. But since I can quickly change from settings from one through zero or even randomly go from three to one or 2 to 1 and then back to three and so on and so forth, he doesn’t get used to just one frequency. And another great thing about the controller is the hut not only is it a bar controller and a really useful flashlight that I use all the time it also has a laser function so you can use your controller and play with your dogs with it. Benji is a really lazy, chill type of dog while gizmo likes to actually play tug and fetch and loves the laser and trying to catch it. I love putting the laser right on his paws and him getting so confused when he can’t seem to get it, lol.I just use the controller like last week when I hired a organizing company and of course the dogs are barking and going crazy because two strangers were inside the apartment so I use the controller and it settled them down. And plus nowadays, at least for Benji when I go and get the controller, and he sees it in my hands. He knows exactly what it is and will get out of the room, lol. Gizmo is a little bit braver so he will stick around until he finally gives up and gets annoyed and just settles down, lol.So for anyone, that’s looking for some thing that will help with your dogs barking out of control. This will be really helpful. It’s worked great for me and I just love the fact that you get three things and one item.I guess the only “con” I can think of to mention is that if you’re looking for something that’s gonna work while you’re not at home this isn’t going to be helpful for obvious reasons, but you can use it and take it with you on walks.(I’m not sure, but if you’re looking for something that’s going to work while you’re not at home I would first check the modus store on Amazon first to see if they have a device of that kind because the quality and look of the product is great. Because let’s be honest guys, lotta things you get on Amazon is very cheaply made. And I purchased my bark controller back in 2021 and it’s still in excellent condition and works just like it did when I first got it and still use it to this day.)This bark controller has definitely worked for my dogs (well, more on Benji then gizmo at least like I have already explained throughout my review, lol. Because some dogs the ultrasonic frequency won’t bother them or be as effective on them. It just depends on your dog,Honestly.)Well, in my honest opinion, if you are looking for an ultrasonic device to help with your dogs, loud barking, I would definitely recommend this controller and I really hope that it works for your dogs as well. (^_^)

It Worked…For 3 Days
I’m going this device helping to help with the training of my dog. He has a loud bark and gets excited by large cars and trucks. The first couple of uses were positive: my dog reacted and stopped barking, and paid attention to me. But he quickly realized it was just a sound and began to ignore the ultrasonic pitch. Now it’s hanging on my rack collecting dust.

Amazing tool for a training toolbox
I tried these years ago and never had much luck with them working. It is so unexpected to find a device that works and works amazingly well. I am a professional positive dog trainer. I ran a stockdog rescue and specialized in rehabilitation of stockdogs for years. Stockdogs, as well as many terriers, and other breed types are highly reactive to sight sound and movement. Without training these dogs are unpleasant, problematic, sometimes dangerous. Many end up in shelters and rescues because people do not understand the motivators behind the behaviors. Any dog of this type needs to be trained an on, and OFF switch. I love these dogs, when they find their purpose, their instincts realized, they are amazing rewarding companions.Rehabbing these dogs is a long process. I have a JRT foster dog right now, that has quite a few out of control problems. Like many JRTs, they can rule the house, and develop some terrible challenging habits. They need firm consistent training from the beginning. This dog, has uncontrollable highly elevated reactive barking at anything outside her windows. She challenges anybody that tells her to move from any spot she has claimed, with teeth and growling. She believes she is the protector of everything. It stresses her out, she worries over everything out of her control. This device, along with a normal voice, a consistent command, (I use the stockdog command that’ll do) works stunningly. It is important to understand, that you should acknowledge the dog’s alert. You want the alert, it is their job as your pack member to warn and protect. Then you take control, use the off switch.Acknowledge, ok! That’ll do. Continue bark, brief correction with this device. Good dog! Or click treat. This correction pattern broke the dog’s out of control responses. She instantly stopped barking, faced me, then ran to me. Resulting in praise, good dog! Good job! Now her stressed attempt to control has been replaced with a job, I took control. Now she can relax and be a happy dog. This device helped me jump forward in the rehab of this wonderful dog. By my becoming the pack leader, her challenges to space and reactive measures has diminished substantially. One week in, her behavior is now becoming my partner, her outlook is completely changed. For maybe the first time in her life, at 10 yrs old, she understands her place, and what is expected of her. This is only a tool, you cannot misuse it, or punish the dog with it. Seek a professionals help with hardened ingrained behavior. Although this isn’t exactly in the strictest sense a “positive” reinforcement tool, it is a humane method to use in the right hands as a tool moving to positive reinforcement quickly.
