Gutted a cow elk no problem
This is my hands down all time favorite fixed blade hunting knife. My second favorite is the Benchmade hidden canyon hunter. Considering the price difference, Gerber beats it by a mile. It held an edge from cutting through fur and skin on the chest. Stayed sharp enough to cut the diaphragm out cleanly and skinned the whole animal. I did not batton it through the chest or hip bones, however. We used a small hatchet for that. Over all a fantastic value for the real world hunter. Its quality enough to last and function well, cheap enough that you don't cry if you lose it. Also not heavy at all.

Quality knife. Has lasted me and performed well for about a decade of normal use.
I am not a knife expert, but I purchased one for myself many years ago and have given several as gifts in the last couple of years. The knife blade seems durable for standard uses. It sharpens fairly easily and holds an edge well. It seems like that is often the trade-off, i.e., easy to sharpen but dulls quickly, or vice versa, but I am happy with this for normal use. One son gets much more hard-core use of his knife on his job and has said he is very satisfied. It may be a little heavy to carry in your pocket, but fortunately, it comes with a belt case.

Best little knife
The GERBER Freeman fixed blade knife is one of the best little knives out there. I do wish it was half serrated, but it’s ok like it is. Blade is just under 4 inches, just right. Came sharp. Handle is rubber and fits the hand good. Wide enough to do working jobs and pointed enough to poke holes. The sheath is useless. Be prepared to find another sheath for this great little knife.

This is a superb everyday carry. The handle is especially good
Bought this to carry when not at work (where knives are frowned upon) and have loved it. It hits a good size and durability so you will use it, instead of trying to protect it. It works well to pry things with the wide flat blade in either direction without the edge coming into play when you don't want it to. The handle has enough spare metal below your hand to hit things if you want to. Some things just need a solid whack to loosen or break and this is a handy whack delivery tool.I normally dislike finger grooves in things but the grip is almost the best feature. Between the thumb studs and the slots on the back of the blade you can really put a lot of pressure on it with confidence you won't slip. And it is thicker in the grip due to the rubber inserts which also helps.

Quality knife
Got this for the wife to keep in her car. Wish it was mine. Weight is nice, quality is on point for the price.

Great knife. Amazing bargain!
First Gerber knife I ever own and, so far, it has not disappointed. Weight and balance are good. It was sharpened, but I honed it just a bit more on a whetstone that I purchased, and now it's perfect for any use imaginable. Really like the weight of it overall, as it makes it that much easier to notice if you forgot to put it back in your pocket. Only thing I might point out is the opening movement is a bit tight, so I put a drop of WD-40 and smoothed that out a bit more to my liking. Opens perfectly with a wrist snap now.

It's awesome, but heavy.
Well, everyone else said it was heavy, so - duh, it's heavy. The only reason this matters is because it's so heavy I find myself pulling up my pants all the time. My body shape may have something to do with this, or the other items I carry on a daily basis (rt. frnt.= keys and change - lt. frnt.=ruger lcp - rt. rear=wallet - lt. rear=phone), although without it, they stay up fine. It may not be an issue for you. The knife itself is great! May be the best I've had. The handle is SO comfortable. It's not going to slip. The "flat" back allows me to punch holes in plastic jugs/drums, etc., which is what I use it for. The blade is tall, which limits it getting into tight spaces. The sheath is extremely nice too! I had one with a velcro flap that eventually wore out and I ended up losing the knife. I really love everything about this knife, including the weight. It feels like a tool as much as a pocket knife. And, while it's only opinion, as all the others have stated as well, it really is beautiful to look at. It exudes quality.

Great Knife
Bought this knife for my son who was looking for a fixed blade edc. Loves it, especially the textured grip. Gerber makes great knives for the price
