Great resource
I'll keep this brief: started lifting about 6 months ago and this book is going to be an invaluable reference as I develop and modify my training to suit my needs. Geoff cuts through a lot of the crap out there and always indicates when something is his personal preference vs what he recommends in general.

Value. No BS approach. Just the facts.
There are many important virtues regarding the author of the book and the content. Geoffrey is a true natural, not a fake natty. This alone garners my respect for him. That being said, the book is jam packed with information that l didn't know existed. The humor is sprinkled throughout, which is nice. His results speak for themselves. And they didn't come easy.He earned every inch by training smart, hard and also by experimenting. I have done this but he's far more successful at it than l am. Between this awesome book, my Steve Reeves book and my Mike Mentzer Heavy Duty book, & some vintage bodybuilding magazines, l can fine tune my already productive ( results proven ) workout program. If you haven't seen Geoffrey on YouTube, l highly recommend that you do. Just look up:Geoffrey Verity Schofield

Everything you need to know to get started.
This book is an excellent resource for someone who is at any phase of a fitness journey, and has serious motivations towards the pursiut of bodybuilding and weightlifting. If you are new to it, there is plenty of tips on how to get started, what exercises to use, and how to put together a plan that makes sense. If you are more experienced, there is a plethora of information available to optimize your training to get the most out of your time and effort. Many people would go to Athleanx or Greg Doucette for an overpriced, underpersonalized, and ineffective training plan, but this book will save you both that money and that time. Geoffrey verity Schofield also has an incredibly informative Youtube channel that the Chinese government forces him to maintain. Also makes an excellent Xmas gift for a calisthenics warrior who struggles to make gains.

Help me organize my thoughts...
2 things that made a huge impact on my life lately:- Starting to track my food.- Upping my seriousness level at the gym. Both diet and exercise are means to an end - better physique, higher energy, better sleep at night, less afternoon energy crash, better feeling in general. Both diet and exercise are systems: broken down to fundamental elements you can test and play with until you converge to the right structure best suited to get you to your goals.I can't yet say anything too valuable about diet, still experimenting, but when it comes to gym workout routine I absolutely recommend on this book. Especially for beginners who want to level up.In the book Geoffrey breaks down a gym's workout routine aimed to accomplish personal goals into it's fundamental elements, and shows how to structure them back together into your own personal program. All backed by science, written in eye level, no fluff or BS, easy read, REALLY made a difference for me.Once you're done reading it's like a playbook you can refer to anytime you wanna make changes in your gym program, or reinforce anything you're not sure about. Not affiliated in any way, not a friends with the author, just a satisfied reader. Highly recommend. Looking forward to the next book (nutrition, the rumors say :))

Amazing
This is the definitive encyclopedia for those who train. Whether you’re a beginner just starting out, or advanced and have been training for years, this book is the perfect guidance for all your gym endeavors. It does not waste time, it gets right to the point, and it’s impossible to not understand any of what’s written in here. It’s also occasionally really really funny. That’s the thing with Geoffrey. He is a genuine person with a genuine voice. When reading or listening to him, you’re getting an real honest opinion from a real person who actually cares for people getting results and not just repeating what some other dime a dozen fitness trainer says. I hope he releases an audiobook to this because there’s so much enthusiasm in his voice that I would immediately buy it if he did

An Excellent Weight Training Guide
This is an excellent weight training guide. It describes multiple exercises for each major muscle group, how to do them, which ones are more effective than others, why to do them, and why to maybe not do them (usually because they are less effective or they have an elevated probability of injury). He also has a good discussion of programming. Many lifting books describe exercises and what muscle groups they work, but not so many help you select/prioritize between exercises that work the same muscle groups. This book does those things. If you know less than everything about lifting, this is an excellent book to own. I refer to my copy frequently.

Fantastic Read
Let me start of by saying I had no intention of ordering this book. I enjoy Mr. Schofield's content on Quora and YouTube, so I thought I would give it a glance. Amazon had the one-click buy button just above the preview button. In my haste, I bought it.That said, I am so glad I did, I have many different workout books and exercise manuals from various publishers. I cannot promise SWEAT has anything radically new, but it certainly is presented in a straight forward, memorable, and humorous way. Some of the charts and vocabulary get pretty technical, but there is plenty of great information for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced gym rat.All in all, the best 8 bucks I've ever accidently spent!!

Heavy lifting needed on uploads
This is a great book for natural lifters. Crammed with information; best lifts for body parts; even has routines outlined to suit your needs (would've liked more 3-day ones). It would have got 5 stars, easy, had it not been for a tech issue: the author has not prepared his book for proper rendering on kindle devices. Such a shame. Maybe he could re-upload after getting some advice so we can read his book on the go, on our phones and devices.8 May 2022 update: I have since purchased the paperback edition, primarily due to the fact that the ebook had not been rendered properly for e-readers. It's an issue the author must address.Regards the paperback, again, of course, the content is excellent; GVS has a great YouTube channel with first-rate information. But again the quality of design and printing lets him down. He is becoming a successful and respected coach, and rightly so.But he needs to invest in some formatting resources for his books. It is hard to read, the photos and images are low in quality, the layout poor. See above image, for example; ineligible. Had this book - print and ebook - been better designed, laid out, formatted, it would have been five-stars all the way.I wouldn't go on like this usually, but GVS is so good, he needs to target this part of his business.

Mainly For Beginners BUT Expensive & Has Two Major Problems.
There's plenty of good information for beginners in this book but imo there are also two major problems - in addition to the cost.Firstly, as the book is most useful for beginners it really should have spent more time explaining breathing and bracing for those beginners starting to squat and/or deadlift. These important aspects are mentioned in the book but only briefly and not in anywhere near enough detail.I'm not sure whether the author doesn't realise the importance of breathing and bracing &/or doesn't know enough about them to write about them in detail? The best book I've found to explain breathing and bracing is "The Squat Bible" and the author, Dr. Aaron Horschig, also has an excellent YouTube channel called "Squat University".The second major problem is the size of the book. The A5 size is fine for most of the text however virtually all of the diagrams become unreadable at this size. This is unforgivable for such an expensive book.If there's a second edition of the book both of these problems would have to be addressed adequately before I could recommend anyone paying almost £27 for it.

Best book out there!
Really straight forward and easy to understand. What i really like and appreciate is how all information is correlated across the book. The pics are not great but do the job so stop complaining! This book is a masterclass in understanding what works for you and gives you the courage to train that way…not enough books or youtube fitness coaches do this in the weight training arena. Leave the dogma and just get on with what works for you!Outstanding book!Buy it!

Great for beginners
As a newcomer to weight training, over 67, non gym goer, I found this book really useful for working out at home. I don't have the machines that a gym would have, but I have DIY cable systems, squat rack, benches etc. Book shows you how to balance your workouts.Enjoyed reading the book and it's a handy reference.Probably not a book you would read cover to cover in one go.

This is more than a book; it’s a bible!
I have been following the author, Geoffrey, on Quora for some time as I work hard to transition from a skinny distance runner to, well, someone who no longer fears a light gust of wind.I’m half way through this book and have already modified my 3 times a week (mostly compound) weightlifting routine, to include greater volume and variety. I already know I will refer to this book again and again.Easy to read and often entertaining - Top Tip no.3 for the T-bar Row is fact. And funny.Costing about the same as a protein shake and a coffee - absolute bargain!
