NOW Essential Oils, Lavender Oil, 2-Ounce

We have had this bottle over a year and use it all the time for many things originally it was to make our sons cloth baby wipe solution and it was amazing, he always smelled so good, after he was potty trained we found many other used for this stuff! Upon research I found some useful bennifits are 1. Calming Rub 2-3 drops of lavender oil in your cupped palms, then use the inhalation method to draw the scent all the way into your amygdala gland (the emotional warehouse) in your brain to calm the mind. Then, rub on the feet, temples, wrists (or anywhere) for an immediate calming effect on the body. Great for use in crowded areas like planes or subways to carve out your own personal oasis. 2. Sleep aid: Again, use the cupping and inhalation method. Then, rub a drop of Lavender oil on your palms and smooth on your pillow to help you sleep. For our son we noticed it helps him sleep through the night when we put a drop on each heel and rub it on his feet before putting on his socks. He actually sleep much better when we do. 3. Bee sting / Insect bites: Put a drop of Lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite to stop itching reduce swelling. 4. Minor burn Put 2-3 drops Lavender oil on a minor burn to decrease pain. I recently did this after I spilled scorching hot tea on my hand at Starbucks and luckily had my lavender with me. Result: NO redness, swelling or pain. NO sign of any burn. Lavender works wonders! 5. Cuts Drop Lavender oil on cut to stop bleeding, clean wound, and kill bacteria. 6. Eczema / Dermatitis Mix several drops of Lavender oil with a nut or vegetable mixing oil (coconut, sesame, etc) and use topically on eczema and dermatitis. I have a dear friend who suffers from severe eczema and swears by this. 7. Nausea or motion sickness To alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness, place a drop of Lavender oil on end of tongue, behind the ears or around the navel. 8. Nosebleed To stop a nosebleed, put a drop of lavender oil on a tissue and wrap it around a small chip of ice. Push the tissue covered ice chip up under the middle of the top lip to the base of the nose and hold as long as comfortable or until the bleeding stops (do not freeze the lip or gum). 9. Dry or chapped skin Rub lavender oil on dry or chapped skin. 10. Chapped or sunburned lips Rub a drop of lavender oil on chapped or sunburned lips. 11. Hay fever. Rub a drop of lavender oil between your palms and inhale deeply to help alleviate the symptoms of hay fever. 12. Dandruff. Rub several drops of lavender oil into the scalp to help eliminate dandruff. (And smell good) I truly believe this should be a household essential!!!!

This 2 ounce container has turned out to be such an economical size. Lavender essential oil has so many uses, I don't know where to begin to describe how helpful this big bottle been. I use it to take the itch out of skin rashes and mosquito bites. Just one little drop can stop the itch from poison ivy rashes for hours. Using essential oil helps Insect bites heal faster. Lavender essenial oil healed my sunburn from spending too mush time outdoors. A small tiny drop wiil do wonders for acne and blemishes. There is no way I would be caught without having a bottle of lavender essential oil in my medicine chest. Besides being good for the skin it is also great for laundry and many other household cleaning tasks. Placing a couple of drops on a wool dryer ball will freshen the whole load. Adding a few drips of lavender essential oil to unscented cleaners and vinegar freshens up house cleaning. I just love the smell of lavender, and adding lavender essential oil to my cleaning products makes my whole house smell fantastic. Putting several drops in a diffuser pleasantly cents the whole room with pure and natural fragrance. My bathrooms have never smelled better. Putting a drop on the pillow case at night helps promote deep and restful sleep.This is a quality fresh item, and the nice 2 ounce size stretches for many many uses. One big 2 ounce bottle usually will last me a couple of months. I use it for everything, and I do mean everything.

I love the smell of the lemon grass oil, the NOW brand has consistently had a strong fragrance and not watered down. The lemon grass fragrance makes my house smell so clean and fresh. I use it in my diffuser and love the smell.

For consistency reason, like wines, companies may mix different lavender oils to “standardize” the aroma for each bath. After all, all natural products vary due to weather, rainfall, geographic locations, etc. That is why at times we see companies offer 40/42 blend( 40% to 42% of the aromatic chemical compound linalyl acetate), which is the stable for perfumery industry. The most popular species is angustifolia/officinalis, or commonly call “English lavender” or “true lavender”, due to its distinctive soft, floral scent. To clarify, these common names can be misleading, since this species is not native to England, and all other lavender species are not “fake”. Companies may blend angustifloia oil with those from other species such as latifolia (spike lavender), intermedia (hybrid lavender or lavandin), etc. Each company has its own recipe. Therefore, at times, some oils may smell more flora, comphorous, or woody. In general, the floral scent is preferred by most, and thus demands higher price. Please remember that the floral scent from natural lavender oil is soft. Therefore, some people think certain oils are “watered down”, because their aromas are not strong enough or don’t last long enough. Since most of us don’t have analysis equipments to analyze the purity or oil blend, we can only judge from our nose and experience, which can be subjective. Please also remember that light exposure, temperature, and age affect greatly on the aroma. If the oil is exposed to sunlight or high heat, it deteriorates faster, and thus may have a rancid or sour odor. In addition, the fresher the oil, the better the aroma (except certain oils such as sandalwood, myrrh, patchouli, etc.) Therefore, it is better to purchase oils from reputable vendors. With that said, my lavender oil by Now Foods is surprisingly floral. The top note is a bit bitter and pungent; however, the middle note is a soft floral, and the base note is a lingering floral and woody scent. For the price, it seems to be a good buy, from aromatic viewpoint.

The bottle had been opened and about a third of the essential oil was missing. Not impressed.

It's ok, but it doesn't smell the same as the smaller bottle I get(?). I find that a bit weird.

Arrived quickly, packed securely and described accurately. This is the second or third time I've bought this product. It's excellent quality essential oil for a good price that I use to make homemade laundry softener. I don't know what I'd do without it.
