This is a great little loom for sampling or if you just want to make something 10" wide or slightly smaller. Ashford is a good loom and this would be good for someone who wants to try their hand at weaving without spending a lot of money. It's durable and once you know what to do and how to use it, it's fun and easy.

I have a 24 inch Kromski already and wanted something smaller for scarves and such. This 10 inch Ashford is a nice little loom. It would be nice if the wood already had a finish on it and it could stand to be a bit stronger but it works quite well. I have made several scarves on it, they make for pretty quick work even at 6-8 feet long.

Let me say I absolutely love my loom. The packaging and shipping were great. The loom does come unassembled but looking on YouTube on Ashford's video list - they have a great demo and explanation. The .25 deduction? Ashford also has a video on their channel - titled - "Before you assemble your SampleIt loom....watch this" - Yeah, really would have been nice to find that video before I assembled mine - luckily had prepped my wood. The wood is unfinished so heads up. The printed material accompanying the loom is minimal and not sufficient to assemble. Definitely check out their YouTube. This was my exploration into weaving and I'm hooked. The size is perfect for small projects such as scarves but if I were to purchase one now. I would go for the 15 inch. Also, I'm quite happy with the ratcheting system (sorry if that's not the correct term) - your brake and winding system essentially. Additionally, already built into the loom, is the ability to add a second reed without any additional framing. (Not so on other "intro" looms) Bottom line, well made lovely product and I will be happily getting many, many years use from it. Enjoy!

This is a great, portable, rigid heddle loom for weaving narrow projects. For my first project I wove a single skein of cotton/flax yarn into a great lightweight scarf (pictured). The loom is also great for sampling, before committing to larger projects that require a big investment of yarn and time for warping. Please note that the loom requires assembly and a wax finish (prior to assembly) is recommended. Clear instructions are privided and are easy to follow. I prefer Ashford's finishing wax, but any finishing wax will do.

This is a great loom for beginning fiber artists and seasoned weavers alike. Easy to assemble, robust. I would recommend purchasing a 10dpi SampleIt rigid heddle in addition to the 15dpi heddle that comes with it if you plan on weaving anything very fine.
