Honestly this was a bit of a gamble with only 4 ratings. I've definitely seen these products just not work at all. However... so far so good! I bought this to chop carrots because the supermarket didn't have the pre-cut batons in stock and I cannot be trusted with a knife and a hard object like a carrot! I peeled the carrot, cut to size and- bam- worked perfectly. You do need to exert some pressure- so it may not be useful for people who don't have grip in their hands to hold it while it's pushed down, or who aren't able to push down firmly. I also find, the bottom part is curved slightly- for holding round items like tomatoes in place- but this means flat items can slide around. To counteract this I push the carrot a little way into the blades and this holds it steady all the way down.I've not tried it for a squishy item like a tomato yet. If I do, I will update :)The green part is sealed and it's all easily washable. I don't expect the blades to stay sharp forever but for now it's a very useful, cheap gadget that means I can buy the large bag of carrots cheaply instead of the expensive pre-cut ones!
