Good Battery Life
this was easy to set up, as far as learning to use youtube was very helpful. I have used it a few times since I got it and it is very useful in Ice fishing as far as getting your depth right and locating fish and the battery seems to last all day without showing that it is giong down

Awesome performance and the best value ice fishing fishfinder on the market!
I looked into a bunch of different fish finders when I was in the market to buy one for ice fishing. I'm not guaranteed to get ice every year because of where I live so I didn't want to spend $600 on a fish finder that I might not get to use more than a few times each year. When I saw this one I watched some ice fishing veterans operate it and it had many of the features of the really expensive ones. It has nothing but positive reviews and some of the anglers were shocked at how it had so many features for such a low price. After the first use I was so impressed that I convinced two of my friends to buy this just by showing it to them for about 5 minutes. The dual beam feature is fantastic and the flasher is just so cool to watch when fish chase your lure. This is a total game-changer and gives you that advantage that you otherwise wouldn't have. Less searching=more fish. I highly recommend this for any ice fisherman.

Bought a year before I got to use on the ice
If you are looking for a great, economical fishing sonar for ice fishing you absolutely can't go wrong with this unit. It really is not difficult to learn to use on the ice and it works great. Separation between jig and fish is really good. I never cared much for jigging but now "I" am hooked, I can see getting your kids to use this because it is almost like a video game, when the marks come together be ready for a bite. I have been a fan of Garmin for many years and this just sealed the deal again. If iI would of had to spend several hundred dollars for a sonar I would probably still be without, my opinion you will not be disappointed.

Best deal there is on an ice fishing graph
I've used Vexilar FL8, Marcum Lx3, Lowrance X67c, and Humminbird Helix 5.This is better than all of them, with the old Lowrance being the closest. I think if I wanted a unit for both open water and ice I'd look both at this and the Humminbird Helix line. For ice, this is better due to the vertical screen layout. It's hard to make use of the horizontal real estate on the Helix machines and I always found myself wanting more vertical room. For open water fishing it's the opposite - the more horizontal screen would be more useful. As to the fish finding ability, target separation is good, screen is bright enough for my purposes. Battery life is good for a graph, though still not as good as a simple flasher. There's so many more options and customization here vs. a flasher.I'd say for someone who's buying a first ice fishing fish finder, if you want something easy to learn that just works go with a flasher like Vexilar fl8, Marcum lx3 or Humminbird Ice 35. For those who like to dig into menus and customize and set up something exactly how you want it, this unit is tough to beat. For someone who wants a year-round unit, it's either this or the Helix line. The choice probably comes down to what kind of fishing you do more and whether the vertical or horizontal screen suits your needs better. The battery life on this much better than my Helix 5.Edit: the price on this went up since my review. At current price ($300ish) you'd be better to get the Striker 4 portable kit (which comes with the open water style transducer) and buy the ice transducer separate for $80. You'd get both transducers, and still be below the current price of the ice fishing bundle.

Almost perfect
I purchased one of these. Everything went smooth and I got it pretty fast. However, upon opening the package I realized the box had been opened. Mine didn't come with the bar that's connects on the sides and goes over the top that helps to create bag structure...

Best value for your money! Easy set up and user friendly
Great unit! Only used it for ice fishing so far. The battery life almost unbelievable. Ran it for a solid 15 over night in an ice shanty and never shutoff on me. Used it in the extreme cold conditions as well of -5 degrees F with no issues. Very user friendly and easy to dial in! You can’t go wrong with this unit and blew my expectations away for the price!

Enjoy this purchase. Was out ice fishing on Saginaw Bay yesterday and was quite pleased with the night mode.

Works great
I bought this for ice fishing yellow perch. The digital readout is easy to see, battery life is good, and the carrying case is easy well made with sufficient room for everything that comes with it. Fish detection may not be as sensitive as the other main brand that's been around forever but the worthwhile trade offs of the ability to instantly read depth and more so easily mark a waypoint are worthwhile.I have used it in up to 50-feet of water and it's overall very effective.
