Superb lively sound.
I've previously purchased some headphones that were monitoring headphones and was very disappointed at the lifeless sound quality, no such problems here. The bass is excellent, powerful, but not overwhelming, mids are clear, and highs sparkle. Previous reviews which stated that these had a good high end were what made me buy them, as I find, as I get older, I need a slightly toppier high end, but please don't think these sound shrill, they don't at all.The sound is balanced and very clear, have tried them with all sorts of music and they cope admirably with everything. These were purchased to replace a pair of Grado 325e's that packed up in one ear, and I far prefer the sound of these, and they are way more comfortable too.I do wish they came with a straight cable, but I guess I will lay out the extra to get one.Build quality seems very good, the only worry being the external wires that go from the headband to the ear cups, they look a little delicate, but as long as I'm careful, hopefully they'll be fine.Highly recommended.

Great sound. Slightly Fragile
The sound quality is great. I have no complaints about that whatsoever. Well worth five stars.I bought these two years and four months ago. So they've served me pretty well.I also bought the straight lead for them because a curly lead is either too short or puts too much force on the end if you try to stretch it. However, a straight lead does hang about rather and it frequently happened that I would stand up and trip on the lead, throwing the headphones forcibly to the ground. This is no way to treat headphones, especially ones with this sound quality. So mea culpa. However, after being treated that roughly for a while the hinge on the left ear-piece broke. I mended that with epoxy putty. Now the other ear-piece has broken worse. It's time for a new set of headphones. While I have treated them worse than they should have to endure, and they have lasted over two years even so, some of the plastic parts in the complex adjustment mechanics are rather small. The plastic is hard and will therefore accumulate stress damage. I don't really see why headphones need that much variability. The AKG K92s I have replaced them with make do with two pieces of springy plastic and are at least as comfortable. They will bounce, not break, although I will try not to put that to the test.

Really fantastic: take it from a video producer.
Great cans. I'm a professional video producer and these headphones work great, both in the edit suite and in the field. Bought after using the same model at work (for a big international news media organisation who swear by them) so have had a very long time to get to know the model.Replaceable lead is a BIG plus if your out shooting and they get knocked around alot. Sound quality is fantastic and noise cancellation good. they are VERY comfortable too, even if you wear glasses you can use them for an entire working day without a hint of discomfort. Finally price, I got a fantastic deal on open (in reality non-existent) box from amazon warehouse but the cans themselves were brand spanking new.If your undecided between these and the audiotechnicas dont be. do yourself a favour and go for these.

After 10 months the headband broke (plastic)
I wish I knew before. There are many posts on the web about the headband of this model being very low quality plastic. Normal use, I do 1 Skype call per day and listen to music in the office.Next time I'll buy one with metal headband. It is a pity because I did really liked the sound and the isolation.

Built to last, and enjou great audio
In terms of plug and play, those might not be the best for you depending on what sound signatures are to your liking. I would recommend a dac/amp and a good equalizer because this is where those really shine in my opinion, they are quite accurate and distinguishing different background sounds or instruments is really enjoyable for a closed back experience, the sound signature although v shaped is not really base'y, the mid's are clean, and the highs don't fall short. In my opinion the build quality is what you can expect at this price point, falling slightly short on the headband( my head hurt a bit for the first week, but they adjusted nicely over time and I have no problem using them for exceeding periods of time) which many people criticize as simply uncomfortable. They make up for it with great isolation sacrificing however breathability of the ear pads.Tldr; a really good choice for an audiphile headphone

Best headphones I've ever owned
These are the best headphones I've ever owned. In the past I've had problems with the cable failing (including on my Sennheiser HD 205) so this time I decided to buy a set with a detachable/replaceable cable. The build quality of the headphones is excellent - the frame is strong and the hinges look like they will last. The cable is thick and tough and has a strong bayonet fitting to keep it connected to the headphones. They are very comfortable, although slightly heavy. I don't wear mine for toooo long at a time but I can see these being quite heavy if you wear them all day. I wore the SRH840 and SRH440 in a music shop before buying, and found the SRH840 to be significantly more comfortable. The sound quality is incredible. I wasn't sure what to expect but they blew away the Sennheiser HD 205 that they replaced. I use them about 50/50 for listening to music for enjoyment, and editing/mixing music. They are great for both.
