I noticed the last few times I bought this cat food from Amazon, the quality doesn't seem to be as good as the canthi buy from my local mom-and-pop?

That is entirely possible, but probably not through any fault of Amazon. I've had similar experiences with different varieties of the Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free canned cat foods over the years. I've fed two indoor 13 year old cats this brand of cat food for well over the last five years. During that time, I've purchased Merrick from the local store as well as online from the stores online service. I've encountered "bad" food (both cats refused to eat it and one of them repeatedly threw it up) from both these sources and had to return and exchange it. What I was told at the local store is that sometimes the manufacturing plant will tweak or change the formulation and that causes the cats to not eat it. I believe I have read that there are multiple manufacturing plants across the country, so the food you purchase from different sources may not always come from the same plant and may be slightly different from batch to batch. I had been purchasing all of my Merrick food from Amazon for the last 8 months or so until I received a "bad" case of the Merrick Turkey Pate. Both of my older cats refuse to eat it and a newly adopted and fully vetted 1 year old stray that eats everything also refused to eat it. As one of my older cats was losing weight from refusing to eat any of the Merrick varieties I've had to switch them entirely from the Merrick brand over to Wellness. It costs more, but at least the cats are eating and it's cheaper than vet visits.

why are there cranberries in this???

I have no idea. I'm always willing to guess though: I have had several male cats and sometimes they had urinary infections. I know that cranberries do something that keep unirnary infection bacteria from being able to adhere to the wall of the bladder. Maybe???? My cat loves this, and he seems to be happy and healthy, so I'm not worried.

Are ANY of the ingredients from China? their dog food says "no ingredients from china" but the cat food doesn't say that...anyone know for sure?

Their website states NO ingredients from China in any of their food.

What is the percentage of protein in this food? Some reviewers say "high," one says "low." Don't see breakdown in description.. Aiming for 7.5%+
