Any suggestions what to do if the upper lid was closed too tight, and we are unable to open it?

My son couldn’t open his lunch this week. His male teacher couldn’t open it either. I couldn’t open it after school. My dad finally used a vice and some channellocks to get it open. He washed out the uneaten food, and then he tried closing and opening again. No luck. Had to break out the vice again. I don’t see this lunchbox working out for us.

Will the food stay warm in the container without the bag?

This is the 2nd generation of stainless steel lunch box with an extra insulation layer. The container itself can keep the food warm up to 3 hours. With the thermos bag, the food can be kept warm up to 4 hours.

It can hold ice cream?

Any container can hold ice cream. Maybe not for very long without melting. Even after melting in sure it still holds it though.
