Love everything about this set. Chess set as art. But I make the opening move and when my husband comes home, he takes his move. Back and forth over as many days as it takes. The little blue marker magnet gets moved to indicate who's move is next. Easy to hang. Very nice board surface. Pieces are nice quality. There were a few scratches on black frame, too bad. Using sharpee to cover up. Really a fun set, don't think you'd be disappointed. Oh and it arrived fast and was packed sufficiently. The spots I mentioned above look to be production flaws not shipping damage.

I mounted this over my home office desk to work thru chess books during long long meetings. It gets me up to move the pieces and kind of forces me to slowly read and digest the commentary without rushing to make a move. The quality and size are perfect. The magnets are strong enough even though I have fumbled a piece to two while setting up the board.

My son who plays chess moved into a new house. His walls were bare so when I saw this I sent it. He liked it, and when I told him it could hang on the wall he was surprised. The pieces did stay.

This is a great wall mounted chess board. Overall I am very happy with it, and for the price it is fantastic. I did want to mention a couple of minor issues with it. The order of the black/white squares seems to have been swapped a couple of times based on the pictures and the board we received. We are happy with our configuration of the black square being in the lower left since we are going to play it up and down, not left and right, and this is a pretty minor issue, but be aware when setting up the pieces that you may have to put the queen on the opposite color if you play left to right and use the side that the "turn tracker" is on. Second, the white squares have the same repeating marble pattern. This doesn't matter when viewed from about 5 feet, but up closer its kind of annoying. The promotional pictures look OK, but if you look at the pictures posted from other reviews, that is what it looks like in real life. Lastly, it would be have been nice if they included a spare queen, since I can't do the trick of stacking a pawn on the rook like we did growing up. But I am generally happy with it and we plan on playing quite a few vertical games in the future!

My wife and I loved the board — 12/10. We hung it over our bed, so we can distress with some chess before sleep. I was impressed by the strength of the magnets; I flipped the board with the pieces on and none of them flew off. :) Overall, I am super happy. The “it’s your turn” piece came in a transparent, yellow color, instead of steel seen in the pictures, but that doesn’t bother me one bit, but just an FYI for those that might care...The only downside that I have about this purchase is that there are no spare queens for when we promote our pawns. We cannot use an upside down rook to signify a promoted pawn, because the lack of magnetic above the piece... so, idk. I wish they would’ve added a spare. :(

I am so very happy with this chess board. I bought it as a gift for my husband birthday. I was afraid it was just goint to be painted tin in a cheap W@\-Mart frame. To the contrary. The surface feels textured and appears to be washable with a damp cloth. It's playing serface is ample. The magnetic pieces hold well. the frame is solid in weight. It appears to be a laminated compressed wood. But not distasteful by all means. The board itself is of good weight as well. I was very proud to see the " Made in U.S.A." sticker on back and even the frame is marked made in America 🇺🇸 There was even a card in the box to order new chess pieces if we were to miss place any down the road.

Ordered the product in the espresso finish and it looks great! The board itself is definitely on the lighter side, not extremely heavy. The magnets aren’t 100% - a careless move of your arm might knock a piece off, just took a little getting used to in order to avoid. One the magnets on a pawn was defective, the seller responded to our inquiry the same day, and sent our new piece ASAP. Would definitely recommend this product.

Board arrived damaged. Was able to piece it back together. Magnets are decent. Board and frame are much lower quality than I was expecting for the price, but the item functions adequately on a wall, as advertised.
