No magic required!!!
I was so tired of putting my coat on the back of my chair only to have it fall on the floor and get rolled over that I was about to pull my hair out."There has to be a better way," I kept telling myself. "Maybe I could invent something that I could use in my workstation to keep my coat off of the floor."So, down into my laboratory I went. I toiled with no sleep or food or water bound and determined to fix this problem. I mean, if my coat fell off my chair and on to the floor, then surely there are others that suffered from this same affliction. I couldn't be the only one, could I? So, I worked harder.I tried dragon's tongue and eye of newt, no luck. Toad warts and swamp fog? Nothing. The sweat from a witch's brow and the charred wings from a fairy? Some success on levitation, but no staying power. What was I to do? I logged on to Amazon to replenish my supply of troll's toe nail clippings and just thought I would search to see if Amazon could recommend something. That is when I found this!A plastic hook that fit on the side of my cubicle to hang my coat on. Miracle of miracles! Oh holy day! This thing is amazing. It expands and contracts with only the twist of a Phillips screwdriver. It slipped right over the side of my cubicle with no muss and no fuss and was instantly ready to use! No chanting, no incantations, no magic wands or spells required.I have used this for over a week now and not once has my coat ended up on the floor! As an added bonus, it holds my work bag too!

Inexpensive, Understated, Functional, and Environmentally Friendly
I recently took a new job and moved from a private office to a cube. Of the many adjustments I had to make, one was where to hang my jacket on colder and rainy days. Searching Amazon, I found this product. It works, is inexpensive (I paid less than $9), and being made from recycled plastic is environmentally friendly. The coloring is great, as it is understated against the gray tones of my cubicle walls. Now, here is an important point. My cubicle walls are 3.25 inches thick, and this product claims to be able to accommodate walls and doors up to 3.5 inches thick. So I loosened the top screw (need a screwdriver to loosen/tighten) and opened the slide as wide as it could go. It went around 2.5 inches, max. However, in a fit of frustration, I took the screw out completely and separated the two pieces (the hook part and the arm part). That was when I noticed that the arm part was reversible! All you needed to do was rotate the arm 90 degrees, and you had a longer arm to use! (See the product photos I uploaded, if this is in any way unclear to you). Voila, suddenly I had a fully-functional coat hook that fit my cubicle wall and holds my jacket, backpack, and hat perfectly. It would be a *great* idea of the makers of this product would either put some instructions about this in or on the box, or at least mention this fact on the product page. That would wipe out all of the 1-3 star reviews for this superior product.

Works great. Don't forget your screwdriver.
Like most people I know, I now work in a cube environment with a poor layout and no place to hang anything. This product just works. You need a screwdriver, or in my case the back end of a stapler when I realized I needed a screwdriver. It slides to fit and is capable of holding my winter coat or a bunch of wet towels. There are no sharp edges to snag a sweater, its a recycled product and it is the one good thing in my work cube. I'm thinking of buying a few more. If you are in a space compressed cube, a little hanging space makes a huge difference in your quality of work life.

Does what I need.
I've only had this hook for a few days and so far it works as intended. It was easy to adjust and install. You just need a screwdriver to loosen the screw on top of the unit to allow for expansion. Once the unit is in place, just tighten the same screw and you're done. The base of the unit and the hook are two different colors. One is dark grey and the other is kind of a blue grey color. No one will notice this unless they spend a lot of time staring at the hook. It's a non-issue for me.I took one star off because the hook does sag/slip forward on my cube wall when I hang my bag. I don't know if this will shorten the life span of the hook -- it may not even be the hook's fault. The sag may be caused by the shape of my cube walls. Regardless, it is what it is. It doesn't appear to affect my ability to hang my bag.Over all, I'm very happy. I would purchase this again.

Great for jackets!
This is a great way to hang your jackets, bags, purses, coats, and other accessories in your cubicle. The one complaint that I have is that I have it set on the smallest setting and it is still 1/2 an inch to a full inch too big. I thought my cubicle was fairly standard thickness, but if you have a thicker walled cubicle it should be perfect. It does sit just fine as it is, but sometimes when I am getting my stuff off of it, the hook comes off. Not really a big deal except when you are impatient to escape your padded grey cell ... er cubicle.

I had no idea other people were looking for something like this. I'm so glad that I purchased this ...
First off, I had no idea other people were looking for something like this. I'm so glad that I purchased this item because my lab coat constantly was dragging on the floor behind my chair. Since I've purchased this everyone wants one in the office. The only thing I didn't like about this item is, I don't feel the hooks hold the coats as well as they should. My coat tends to slip off if I bump it. I wish the hooks were made with that material a lot of hangers are using, velvet of some sort, so nothing falls off. I find it too slippery, but all in all for the price and the fact my coats in no longer in the wheels of my chair, I give it 4 stars!
