Well, my friends, the original band was called Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac (named after his drummer & future bass player). They formed one of the best blues hard rock bands ever! Peter Green is playing a million dollar Les Paul guitar (now owned by Kirk Hammett of Metallica) and playing it very well, with 2 other guitar players. That 59' Les Paul was sold, given to my favorite blues guitarist Gary Moore, after Peter quit playing for a long time. Back to the review. Live in Boston has 3 volumes, and I highly recommend all 3. Try it on You Tube first, but these CD's sound way better. Many bands were influenced by this original Fleetwood Mac band. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for a fan of this verson of Fleetwood Mac. *by J***1 on Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2015* Certain bands are better live then they are on records, examples of this are Richie Blackmore version of Deep Purple, Cream and Albert King. I now will put Fleetwood Mac version 1 in that class. That is primary due to they try to condense the songs in 3-4 minutes segments. I have always been a fan of their studio works, especially the first album and the Chicago Blues Jam volume 1, However this Live in Boston collection of CDs should be called a classic. The Performances, especially the three different guitars trading of licks especially on Green Manalishi and Rattlesnake Shake if effortless and well balance. The cut of Madison Blues is another find example of sharing the moments. On the sonic side, I never got a chance to listen to any of the version of this concert from the 80s, however these remastered are right on for 90% percent of the songs. On a couple of the cuts there one of the 2 guitars appeared to be overshadowed by the other one it term of volume and space on the sonic plan. An example of this is "Jumping at Shadows", where the Rhythm guitars is out front and the Lead one appears to be stuck in the back. The other issue is that the band did not play Albatross on these dates. Overall this set should be a requirement for any real fan of the early version and lineup of Fleetwood Mac.As a member of Amazon Prime, I was able to get a digital download of Volume One and Two, as soon as I ordered the CDs. I did not order Volume three of the collection due to the high cost. When the CDs arrived I compared them to the down loaded version and discovered that the first two tracks ( World in Harmony and Oh Well) of volume 2 was downloaded as part of volume 1. Volume 2 disk was also different from the download, in that the first three tracks were missing, they appeared on volume 1, however they included 5 tracks that should of been on Volume 3. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Best album with Peter Green *by A***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2014* This is a live recording (1970) of early Fleetwood Mac when they were part of the British blues scene, though branching out into rock. The Boston Tea Party was a concert hall in Boston. This edition of Fleetwood Mac, dominated by founder/guitarist Peter Green, formerly of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, has a very different sound from the later, more commercially successful, band with Stevie Nicks, Christine McVeigh and Lindsay Buckingham. The lineup is Green, vocals and guitar, Danny Kirwan, vocals and guitar, Jeremy Spencer, vocals, guitar, and piano, John McVeigh, bass, Mick Fleetwood, drums and percussion. Eric Clapton and Joe Walsh appear on one track of volume 2 in this series but not on the present CD. It's a shame this terrific set was not released until 1985, probably because Green left the band shortly after the recording.On this disc Green sings, plays some amazing guitar, and wrote much of the material. The live format allows him to stretch out with the solos, and he gets great support from young Danny Kirwan, the two often trading licks in extended jams. Jeremy Spencer's specialty is Elmore James covers, which he is very good at. It is said that as a youth he was a great mimic. He tries to sound like Elmore James and succeeds. Some people find the clone approach annoying but I enjoy it. For me, the highlights are Black Magic Woman with its long jam, and Duster Bennett's Jumping at Shadows, a moving song whose lyrics seem to express Green's depressed state of mind as much as Duster Bennett's. Some may not know that Green, and not Carlos Santana,wrote Black Magic Woman including the distinctive guitar solo.This set is also available as a 2003 set of 4 lps, probably at a very high cost! I have not heard the lps. The sound quality of the CDs is very good.
