new favourite!
Rachel Van Dyken is not only a storyteller, but an entertainer. Her stories have a way of making your life pause and immersing you into the plot. She can make the reader laugh like no other, fall in love with her characters and feel like you're living in the moment with them, like you're watching it unfold in front of you clear as day. She'll take you on quite the journey with this dynamic group but I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Every aspect was done in the purpose of entertaining the reader. It's completely outrageous but that's part of what sucks you in. It's completely unbelievable, but that's what makes it that much better. For those that haven't read anything about this series, I just want to do a quick run down of the group so as I refer to them, it's not completely foreign. The first book is about Milo and Colton, Jason is Milo's brother and Colton is his best friend. The second book is about Max and Becca. Max is Milo's best friend, and he meets Becca in his story. That brings us to Reid. Reid is Max's brother, and he meets Jordan in The Consequence of Seduction. Excluding Becca and Jordan, the others were originally a tight knit group of friends. If you like drama, this story has it in spades; it goes by the name of Max. Now don't be thinking angsty drama. This is the kind of sibling rivalry, initiating a new friend into the group, Jason being accident prone kind of drama. And the fact that Max is just a little off his rocker. It'll keep you on your toes, never knowing what to expect next from the entire group. More than drama, if you ever need a good laugh, please pick up this book. After a long day at work, or a stressful event, or you just feel the need to unwind, please. Pick. It. Up. I can't think of another book or even a movie that has made me laugh this much. It's light and funny and sexy, and you can't read this without a smile on your face while you shake your head back and forth in disbelief.Reid is so swoon worthy, I almost can't take it. He's not your average alpha brooding hero. He's genuine, caring, witty and humble (I shouldn't even have to mention sexy, it's kind of a given). All this while being famous is a feat on its own, but adding in all of the sweetness and humour that his character delivers puts him right at the top of the swoony book boyfriends list. Yes, guys can be dense - Reid isn't some sort of magical book anomaly who can do no wrong, but it's how he acts and reacts to his own and other's actions that make him so loveable. He's so good to and for Jordan and I loved everything about how their story unfolded. #ReidEmeryisasexgod #ReidisBatmanMy biggest thing with Jordan was that I could empathize with her character immediately. Her entire life she's been plain, blending in, believing she wasn't extraordinary. She felt and was quite literally treated as if she was invisible. Then Reid came along and treated her the exact opposite. He saw her, he encouraged her, he treated her the way she deserved to be treated. I guess why I felt so strong about this concept is because this is how I've always felt in my own life. Completely plain, always blending in and never noticeable. No I've never been sat on while riding the subway, but in the off chance I ever was noticed, it was just to be 'one of the guys' or a buddy. Considering Jordan's character went through the similar experiences, I felt a little more connected to her than I usually would with a heroine. I loved how Reid helped her with this issue. He really saw her, and one day I'd love to be on the receiving end of that. I know how powerful it can feel to be looked at like you're the only person in the room, and Reid having that ability alone shot him to the top of my book boyfriends list.“It was the way he looked at me, for just one brief moment in my existence, like maybe I wasn’t the girl the guy passed over, but the one he searched for.”Jordan is feisty to the bone. She's real and smart, hard working and loveable. She wouldn't take crap from anyone, whether it be Reid or even Max, and could really hold her own with the entire group. She got a well deserved story with a perfect ending being the cherry on top.“Still nervous?”“Yes.” I blinked. “No.” Reid’s eyes zeroed in on my face, slowly lowering until his gaze stopped at my lips.“Don’t be. You’re perfect.”Nobody had ever called me perfect before. He made me feel like it was true.Like I wasn’t invisible.”As funny and honest as this book was, it also did deal with some body and confidence issues which I really appreciated. The odd thing though was that Rachel, the little stealthy ninja that she is, did it in such a subtle way, I didn't even notice until after I was done the book. I was too engrossed into the story to really pick up on really how much all of the characters help each other grow and be confident of themselves.I will admit it right now. I am a huge, and I do mean HUGE romantic. When Jordan is trying to get Reid to come up with romantic gestures, I was smiling like an idiot - this stuff is my crack. Like candy to a baby, I took to this content immediately and was absolutely in love with every second. From the video, to the restaurant, to the Phantom and to the #CapedCrusaderReal, I was an extremely happy camper. #TheArchCan I just talk about one specific scene here for a second? The restaurant/date scene. Dear Good Lord in heaven, let me just explain my facial expression. Eyebrows arched as high as my hairline, eyes bugging out of my face, jaw basically dropped to the floor all while giggling/swooning/looking like an idiot with hearts coming out of my eyes. Seriously, what was THAT?! And where the hell is mine?! I simply can't spoil it because it may have been my favourite scene in the entire book, but when I recognized the song and lyrics, I died a little more. That was one of my favourite covers of last year and Reid's use of it and actions were completely spot on. Now I don't want people to get the wrong idea about what happens based on this song; it's not what you'd think after listening to it, but it was so, so good in the moment. Please, if you haven't heard Chase Rice's cover of Ride, stop reading and go listen now. WARNING! NSFW, children's ears, or any family or social gathering. You're welcome. Now that you're curious enough to find out what I'm talking about, pick up this book - you know you want to...Poor Jason... How can one character possibly be that accident prone? Everything that could ever happen to a person, and then about 57 other incidents happen to this poor fella and I feel so bad for laughing but it's all way too funny. There is one question I have though about him after reading The Consequence... Did he ever manage to find a helmet to bring to Vegas? Questioning minds want to know.I hate to admit it, but I did have a problem with this book. Just one though, so that's saying something. I loved the pacing of the story and the development of Jordan and Reid's relationship; the progression felt real. As the climax built, you knew something was coming and I enjoyed the emotion and anguish we got from the main characters, but it was over faster than it started. We had a problem, and then the resolution. Bam bam, right back to back. I went back and looked and the resolution lasted for literally 5 pages. I'll trust an author as much as the next girl, but I wish it could've been drawn out some to make it a little sweeter. However now to completely contradict myself, I liked that they sorted out their problems so quickly. The feelings were real and they fought for the relationship, didn't just sit around and play the woe is me game. It's no secret that Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favourite authors, but The Consequence of Seduction has quickly jumped to my favourite book of hers, and to a spot on my all time favourites shelf. I wasn't sure how she'd be able to top Max's story, but she definitely did with Reid! I can't think back to a time when I've laughed this much during a book. All of the hilarity is constant, so just as you get over laughing about one thing, another is right there to take its place. I'm not ashamed to admit there were times where I was giggling so much it turned into a cackle, then one of those weird silent cries where you're just slightly shaking. Yeah... That happened. The Consequence series is definitely out there. It's not your average romance, average characters or average story line; these characters are all crazy and some (I'm looking at you Max) are even potentially certifiable. But that's what just makes it that much better. It's over the top, ridiculous, distracting from your life, immersing type of story. I didn't want to put this down, and if I could continue on with my life without the need for employment or a few hours of sleep, I happily would've read it in one sitting. Thank goodness for chapter breaks, right? Oh sorry, coffee breaks.I haven't yet read The Consequence of loving Colton, so I can't comment on what happens there, but I have read The Consequence of Revenge. Based on this, I wasn't sure about Reid's story. I was intrigued but so confused and couldn't picture the type of heroine for him. I'm so, so glad with Reid and Jordan together, it's the perfect match and it was really enjoyable to see how she could blend in with the other characters so well.Rachel has once again won me over, but at this point I shouldn't even be surprised, I just need to expect it.If this is how it's done, I want to be seduced. #ConsequenceofSeductionFTW

cute
The Consequence of Seduction is a cute read. If you have been reading this in series order then you know this is Reid's book. Reid is the actor and the one that makes women melt. He is also Max's brother. I loved Reid in this one. His relationship with Max will have you laughing all the way through. You still get the whole gang and the mayhem that follows that will leave you in stitches. I love how Max has his way of pushing...I mean meddling in everyone's relationships and with Reid it is no different. Jordan is the perfect match for Reid. She understands his life style and I love how she can help fix Max's little blunders that may pop up. The banter and chemistry is amazing through out with Reid and Jordan. She just fits in so well with everyone. I couldn't get enough of this one and how can one forget Grandma. I love this series so much and I cannot wait for Jason's book.

ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!
Absolutely hilarious! It’s been a long time since I laughed at myself while reading a book. It’s your usual plot of pretend romance for the public. Reid is one of the most sought-after Hollywood heartthrobs and Jordan is his publicist tasked to keep his reputation pristine. After one incident over another (no thanks to the intervention of his crazy brother, Max), Reid found himself in a pretend romance with Jordan in order to take his Hollywood career to an explosive new level. What makes this book stand out are the hilarious characters of Reid and Jordan. I love that Reid is not the typical aloof, brooding alpha. He is confident and witty, and he says what he wants to say. He knows he is gorgeous, but he doesn’t use it as an advantage to women. Women just fall head over heels for his eyes without him trying! What I also love is that Jordan is also not the typical damsel-in-distress heroine. Like Reid, she is also confident and witty, and she won't take s*** from anyone. She is not an overlooked pretty face. In fact, she is just average: wild hair, wide hips. The public ostracized her as not fit for a hot guy like Reid. But Reid sees her differently. Reid loves every part of her imperfect body. An example:“A lights-off girl? Hell no. You’re a spotlight girl. You just need to stop looking through your eyes and use mine.”But what makes this book more enjoyable than the rest of the romantic comedy novels I’ve read are the supporting characters! They are a crazy bunch, and I mean literally crazy! Max is in a whole different level of crazy. If you think you haven’t seen what bored rich young men do, just look at Max! He is funny… although on the latter part of the story, I suddenly had enough and found him immature.Overall, I had an enjoyable reading experience and I would recommend it to readers who want some laughs.

Good read
This is a very good story. It's well written and funny. It had me giggling several times. I stayed up late to finish. I grabbed this book without reading previous stories in this series and while it was not a big issue I wish I knew the stories of their friends before. I will go back to them now.

A very easy novel to read
A very easy novel to read. To be honest didn't really enjoy Max's story but perhaps wasn't in the right mind set. This however is funny, light, descriptive, compassionate, and very good. Reid an actor who is also a millionaire, requires a publicist, Jordan. The two decide to create a story based around Reid's latest film, and Jordan is the shrew to be tamed, but is she?. The plot unfolds with humour and some sadness, until the beautiful outcome. Jason's story is teetering in the wings.

Hilarious
If you're looking for a romantic comedy that will have you laughing from the start to finish, this is the book for you. Yet again Rachel has given us a fantastic story that you don't want to put down. Even though this book can be read as a standalone I would recommend reading the others in this series first to better understand some of the jokes and references
