I used this test for my MSW exam and I PASSED on first try!! I was using a program at first but realized I needed to have more details so I bought this book. It was MOST helpful to use this book in conjunction with other materials like YouTube, or any program that teaches how to take the test. This also depends on your learning style... but reading alone might not be as affective. I highly reccommend this book... a professor told me to use it and I passed a test that most people take 2-3 times on FIRST TRY.. GET IT!!

I graduated with my MSS in 2000... I let my license lapse during a stressful time in life. When I decided to retake the exam I ordered a cheaper book, not a lot cheaper but I figured how different could they be? I felt super prepared because I was getting great scores on the practice tests but when I sat down to the real exam the questions were totally different and I wasn't prepared strategically. I FAILED. It was a major gut punch. So I looked again at materials and saw this book and ordered it. I scoured the book, highlighted, took notes, I used the app and the website, did all the practice questions, played the games, read the discussions, scoured the reasons I was getting wrong answers. When I felt like I had exhausted the book/app/website I bought the ASWB practice test online and did well enough on that to go into my second try with confidence. I PASSED!!!!! 23 years is a long time... a lot has changed but I feel more prepared for real practice now. Word to the wise... once you get your license DONT LET IT GO!

The book is exactly what i ordered and in perfect condition. It came on time and delivered as expected.

The media could not be loaded.  I studied this book, used the online quizzes and passed with no problem. BUT you won’t pass by studying only the book. It gives you a lot of the basic info but it does not tell you how to choose the clinically correct answer. I suggest also checking out some YouTube videos for strategies on picking the best answer. You have to understand the hierarchy of importance and urgency in the clinical setting, which is not in this book.

Don't flip past the test taking strategies and how to understand the test in the front of the book. Info is very easy to understand. I don't like the organization of the subheadings but I can live with it. Pairing the book with the e-activities is most helpful.

I found this very helpful for studying for the LCSW. I hadn't taken a standardized test like this for many years and was extremely intimated. Making flash cards from this book and taking the practice exams really helped. I found the study materials harder than the actual test. I passed the exam first try and I've given this book to other colleagues who want to get their license.

I read the entire book, highlighted, completed the quiz, and used the app. I passed on the first take. Highly recommend.

It's a great tool for learning.

This book leaves out a lot of information that is necessary to know in order to pass the test and the sample questions are not close to the actual exam questions. I also purchased the Social Work Examination Services book and it is much more in-depth and the example questions are more similar to the actual test. Save your money and don't buy this book.
