They don't strip or lose their black color at all even when your drill, set to 0 slip, loses grip repeatedly because you drilled the pilot hole too small and are throwing every ounce of your body weight against it to get it to drive. And they give you extra! Like, enough to mount 8.5 brackets in a 6-bracket box. I am saving alllllll of these extra screws; if I could buy them separate I would. It might seem like a small thing but hardware is usually a place companies skimp on HARD, and to be confronted with such quality was truly a breath of fresh air. The brackets take some mounting expertise to ensure everything is true - lots of measuring and leveling (some minor differences in angle + or - a couple degrees, but they're SOLID.
