Granny Chic: Crafty Recipes and Inspiration for the Handmade Home

Lovely, inspiring and lively - but ...
I've always loved granny chic and this book made me feel that I'm not the only modern person addicted to granny chic. The projects are lovely, the photos are very inspiring but the writing style is nauseatingly twee and contrived. Halfway through I was tempted to have a swig of wine every time an author said "handy dandy" or "peachy" but realised that I'd be in a stupor before the end of a chapter. Apart from that, it's a good book at a good price and I learned some good craft techniques.

Feed Your Head
I really enjoy this book. It is a real pleasure to hold this one in your hand and turn the pages. You’ll never “get” this book by an e-book copy, if it’s ever made into one. You must hold it in your hands. The pages are a visual treat, and can feed your creative soul. The instructions are not so detailed as might frustrate someone not experienced in crafting or the techniques involved. However, the path to creation(s) is paved with trial and error, which leads to discovery. This can be exciting and frustrating at the same time, if you are teaching yourself a project. But it is also rewarding. You can use this book for inspiration, of which each page is full of. The items photographed, do indeed, reflect a style that was popular in the late 60's and 70's, a heyday for my own grandmother’s era, so there is comfort there. I appreciate these two very creative women bringing this era, this feeling and their creativity to light through this book. The only question I have for them is: “More, Please!?”

Freelance Writer and Mixed-media artist
I have been a fan of Dottie Angel (aka Tif Fussell) for quite some time now and when i heard she had a new book coming out I was so terribly excited. I was not disappointed. This book is full of Dottie's quirky, doilied, Granny love Craftiness. In detail she tells you how to craft some of her signature projects and you get enough eye candy to help spark a plethora of your own projects. All I can say is that I was left wanting more, but in a good way. In a that-was-so-good-I-can't-wait-to-do-that-again sort of way. Rachelle Blondel of Ted and Agnes has also penned much of this book and I look forward to learning more about her as well. If I had one complaint, it would be that there weren't more of Dottie's usual Pinterest-adored projects in the book, but that is a small complaint compared to having this peachy gem of a book in the crafting world.

Fun and Funky Inspiration!
I must say that I didn't read it entirely yet, but so far, so good. I went directly to what was interesting me the most.I like their ideas because it is very different from all the things I saw so far in other books. They are rather original and funky. The explanation part is short, but honestly, it doesn't need to be explained more, because it is very simple. However, I can understand that someone who knows nothing about crafts, may be confused. But if you already make Arts and Crafts, this book will be fun to you, if you like the unusual style, a little Kitschy, but also traditional, since they use things as old as doilies, for example.I would say it is the oldies meeting the modern world, what is interesting. The book by itself is gorgeous, nice photos, great cover with a kind of half jacket. The paper is slightly textured. They made a good job, according to my humble opinion.I really love this book, it is a must-keep, for me at least.

I love it.
If you love the homey, crafted look of the bygone era, you’ll love this book. What’s wrong with granny’s decor? I love it.

Granny style
I saw this book on youtube during a how to video for junk journaling. I loved the vintage feel of what the creators had made. When they say recipes it's not for cooking but to make vintage style aprons, etc.

Love This Book
This is such a cute book. The ideas are homey, and sort of retro-nostalgic. I love picking this book up for a few pages of entertainment at any time! The crafts are pretty simple, so would be quick and easy. The quaint and charming decor is very appealing. I was especially interested in the instructions for making Kantha style patchwork, and will be looking for wire lampshade frames to wrap with fabric, or yarn. The style may not be for everyone, but I love this book!
