The bail is a little heavy for the teas I use, so I have to balance the hat on the handle of my mug, but I much prefer that to dropping the bail into my hot tea and having to fish it out after a five-minute steep. The design of the bail is beautiful, and as it is solid metal, it is very sturdy, so I don't worry about leaving it in my sink for a day or two if I don't get around to washing it right away. I also personally love the fact that it is a mesh tea ball, as it means my herbal teas steep easily and I can even stuff a cheap tea bag inside if I don't feel like fishing around for it later.Keep in mind that you DO have to hand-wash this, as the iridescent coating on the bead in particular probably won't hold up to the heat of a dishwasher.
