The Battle of the Alamo ranks right up there as one of the most famous last-stand battles ever. But, while much has been recorded about the human drama that unfolded at the former mission back in 1836, little is known about the key role technology played in the fatal standoff. In this eye-opening program, HISTORYTM goes beyond canons, Bowie knives, and Kentucky rifles to reveal how the relentless Mexican army used unconventional tactics such as music, uniforms, and other psychological devices to take the Alamo s band of defenders off their guard. Forensic evidence and archival material help highlight the Texans battle preparations, while experts detail how the fort once the Texans refuge quickly turned into a deathtrap.Featuring surviving examples of the weapons and devices used in the siege, as well as detailed computer re-enactments, ALAMO TECH offers a fresh perspective on this historic battle.

'AN INTERESTING DOCUMENTARY'
Hosted by the late 'David Carradine' it tells of the technology in terms of weaponry and indeed the physiological tactics involvedin the 13 day siege of the AlamoThe documentary also discounts many of the myths of the battle which in truth had only a very basic account of proceedings.relying much on what the few survivors could tell of the 90 minute battle which was fought largely in the darkness of the earlymorning attack. This 47 minute documentary certainly of interest to those interested in American-History or indeed quite simply the events of thislegendary battle.

Technology at the Alamo
Wild West Tech: Alamo Tech is an overview of the types of technology used at the famous Battle of the Alamo in 1836. Hosted by David Carradine (who played the character Caine from the 1970s TV show Kung Fu), we learn about how the various forms of technology influenced one of the most important battles in history. The following is a list of technologies portrayed in this informative documentary: rifles, pistols, cannons, flags, the telescope, horses, music, bayonets, rockets, and ladders. The video points out that flags and music were forms of psychological warfare. And, despite their simplicity, ladders made a huge difference when it came to the Mexican army scaling the walls of the beleaguered fort; the Mexican army also had the advantage of ample supplies going into the battle. The video also considers the psychological impact of the massacre at Goliad and the short but significant battle of San Jacinto. I have used this video with my history classes and have found it to be an effective teaching tool.
