Great classic Case Trapper!!!
Just bought this knife and it is awesome. Great finish and look. Edge on the blade were sharp but not the edge that I like so I resharpened them easily. They are carbon and will rust if you don’t patina them or keep them oiled. I see many post of people complaining about rust on a carbon knife. THEY WILL RUST! GET STAINLESS IF YOU WANT A MORE RUST RESISTANT KNIFE!!!! CV WILL RUST AS WELL! If you’re looking for a good trapper then this is the one!

Classic carbon steel
Good KnifeI seen some negative reviews. I think a lot of people may not be familiar with carbon blades . They will tarnish or rust and you need to take care of them properly . Case makes stainless and carbon bladesIf you don’t know the difference I suggest watching a few videos.Carbon isn’t for everyoneSo if it’s not for you I’d get stainless.I myself am old and like the Carbon Steel

Carbon-steel version
The manufacturing quality is great and the two blades are razor-sharp. The looks are also very classic and neat. The carbon steel version (erroneously labeled on this site as Chrome-Vanadium) should be relatively easier to sharpen, but overall requires a bit more general maintenance. If you like or prefer more shiny stuff, go for the stainless-steel version (a bit harder to sharpen when needed). No complaints about either version.

Another nice Case Knife
The trapper is one of the oldest Case patterns. This current model has excellent fit and finish. Highly recommended. I did want to add some context to many of the one star reviews, however. First, the current batch of carbon steel cases are marked CS (carbon steel) vs CV (chrome vanadium) due to claimed sourcing issues of the original steel. The differences are small but to be fair the maintainer of the Amazon product page should probably update it. Second, to those whose knives rusted, all carbon steel rusts. With proper maintenance, the oxide patina will actually protect the blade. If you don't want your knife blade to stain, get a stainless steel version of this knife. You can even force the black oxide to form with a boiling vinegar soak. See picture for example. This is a one day old knife that started the day shiny.

Cant Go Wrong!
Ive had a couple Case knifes when i was younger, but I never could keep up with them. I have carried a Old timer knife for the past year, and after putting that knife through just about everything at work, and not to mention keeping up with it; I knew I wanted to upgrade to something better. Before I bought this knife, I was looking for 2 things in particular.#1 - I refused to buy another Stainless Steel Knife. Yes their Nice and Shiny but you can only use them so much before they get dull again. So being Said, I wanted Carbon Steel, or in this case, Chrome Vanadium Steel. They seem to hold a Edge just a little bit Longer.#2 - I will not carry a Big Bulky Knife. I have always carried Single blade knives, but there is a downfall to only having that 1 blade, once its dull, thats it. And I Hate feeling like I got a big Swiss Army knife in my pocket all day when Im at work.So when i ran across this Decently priced Case XX, I knew I had to have it. Nothing fancy, just a good ole tradition style pocket knife. It works great and has a nice build quality to it and I look foward to using to using it for the many years to come. So if your looking for a Great knife and have the same similiar interest as I did, then i strongly suggest this one. You just simply cant go Wrong with it, weither its your first choice or not, you wont regret it. Hope this review might have helped in anyway.

It's a case
Good quality knives I've toted one in my pocket all my life, I just tend to loose them every few years and have to buy another. Always buy the trapper. Cv blade because of the ease of sharpening and how it holds its sharpeners, these blades do rust and that's how you know you got a good blade the surgical steel and stainless to me are hard to sharpen and don't hold a edge very well then will get dull without even useing it unlike the cv blades only thing diff with this blade than all the others I've carried all my life is the blade is labeled cs instead of cv which I do not like but suppose to be similar still. Not sure what's up with that but love my knife and will always continue to buy and carry the case trapper cv /cs blade

Well made bargin price Case
Knife is one of Case's bargin price products. But it is finished nicely with no performance issues. Does it compare to my $200 Case knives? No. But it still a well made Case and only $44.
