## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this filament have any conductive properties?**
A: This filament is not conductive.

**Q: Once you print the part, at what temperature does the part start to lose its strength?**
A: Because it is PLA based, it will start to soften around 100-120f. ProtoPasta is releasing a new higher temp PLA with carbon fiber reinforcements soon though. Stay tuned!

**Q: Why would i buy this if more brittle than pla? if carbon fiber supposed to be stronger than pla? why is this more brittle???**
A: After model is made, it's solid as a rock. It also has a matte finish, better than PLA. However, it is brittle off of the roll (bad) but once it's extruded, it is equal or stronger than PLA and the finish is nice (good). Try it yourself, your opinions may differ.

**Q: Will this work with a M3D or a Robox?**
A: Here are the conditions that worked best for my printer, and you can see if the characteristics match. It prints at 225*C and clogs unless I use a >=0.6mm nozzle. The site says you don't have to use a heated bed, but I can't get it to stick without heat. I get best results when my heated bed is around 40-60*C. Also, the filament is highly corrosive, so I'd recommend you consider needing to replace your printer's nozzle down the road. I was able to find a nickel plated brass nozzle that is designed for corrosive filaments and it has done me really well. Hope all that helps.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A miracle.
*by R***S on December 1, 2019*

My search for a filament that boasts strength, heat resistance, and a nice finish led me to this filament and I wasn't disappointed. While I'm still just beyond the point of testing how far its heat resistance can go over different periods of time, I've already found myself satisfied and even impressed by this product.Heat Resistance:As I was heat treating it in an oven, it appeared to keep its shape until I cranked the oven up to 200+F which is most impressive. It's worth noting that the recommended heat is roughly 225-230F for heat treating this filament which does manage to cause a slight bit of warping/shrinking, but it's barely noticeable and can be managed through using weights or by heat treating it in shorter stretches.Finish and Strength:On top of some already impressive heat test results, the finish on this is the best I've seen on any filament I've printed. There are absolutely no signs of layer lines in the second print I did (the first photo) with absolutely no sanding required. The overall feel is lightweight, yet extremely solid. I brought the the initial test (second photo) with me to work and used it as a stress ball the entire day trying to break it, and it didn't break. It wasn't until that evening when I got home when it finally broke, after I put my full weight into it while I was waiting for it to finish curing after the heat treatment.Print Settings:As far as print settings go, I was able to print this on my upgraded CR-10 with a nozzle temperature of 230c (225c in the second picture, 230 yielded better results), a bed temperature of 60c, and a movement speed of 50-60mm/s. The level of difficulty for printing this is slightly advanced and I would recommend an upgraded extruder and hotend for this. Also, please be sure to print any carbon fiber filaments in an environment that is well ventilated. For more information on this filament, you can check out the filament profile on the manufacturer's website OR in the Filament Database on Indisposable3D's website.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best material I've printed with yet
*by S***R on October 24, 2016*

This is absolutely my favorite filament to print with so far. I think the other reviews pretty much cover it, but I had to add my voice to the crowd. The matte black surface is gorgeous. I'm pretty new to 3D printing, but I bought a lot of filaments to experiment with, especially non-standard ones like carbon fiber, wood, and bronze fill. I have yet to use a material with a comparable/better surfce quality. I've been printing at 200C/0.1mm layer height and the texture of the carbon fiber seems to hide the layer lines on the side of the printed object so you can barely tell they're there, especially on more complex outer surfaces. And it really is easy to print with, as easy or even easier than other PLA I've used. The filament is quite brittle as other reviewers have mentioned, so careful when loading -- I haven't had any trouble, though. But the rigidity is an aspect of this material -- when printed, it's surprisingly strong. I printed a 150mm x 50mm x 10mm bar with 60% infill (I included a picture of it being printed), and I couldn't even bend it slightly with most of my strength.I also really like the spool itself (looks just like in the product image). Proto-pasta just has a cool sense of style overall, from the unique materials to the code in the background on the spool. I've already run through my first spool, and I've ordered another as well as some other interesting materials from them.Overall, I would recommend anyone to buy this. It's definitely worth the price.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ In love! Unreal, it actually works.
*by A***R on October 18, 2023*

I printed a part with carbon fiber Protoss that was crack failing in strong PLA. A couple things to know:1. I had a tungsten hardened steel nozzle2. I had to print really slowThe end product was smooth, no lines, and is super rigid as well as strong/tough like nothing I’ve seen.I didn’t think it would actually work, but it did and well too.
