Spear & Jackson Carbon Steel tools are wonderful!
This hard-to-find "Spear & Jackson 1184NB Neverbend Carbon Steel Treaded Border Spade" is wonderful! This is my second one in 20 years. The first one was abused by my husband when he was chopping roots, rocks, and clay. I am a 5'6" female and need its shorter handle to dig and plant in my home landscape.

Sturdy and Efficient
This is slightly smaller than the digging fork. I used ( still use ) my Spear and Jackson digging fork although last summer, after 17 years of use, I caught a tine on a buried Boulder and bent it back. I'm certain it had a couple thousand hours of use before the mishap and I'm pretty confident this will hold up as well.I also believe the smaller head width is more practical for digging to divide and move plants.

Much less likely to bend than others.
Got this for my daughter. My wife has had one for years and it has never bent like the ones she got at the local hardware store. She uses them for double digging which is required in bio-dynamic gardening.

Spear & Jackson Digger
This digging fork is the best, I have prepared the soil in mi garden easily without disturbing the biological system, besides, it was effective to aerate and loose up the soil

Poor quality control..
While it does look well made I returned it because the two outer tines were bent.

Can you fall in love with a spade?
This spade is what I have been needing for years. I put it to use right out of the box, double digging a new bed in the garden. I'm 5'5", and the size is perfect. I've used a long -handled shovel for decades, but I'm afraid it's going to gather cobwebs in the garden shed now.
