The Lakeland Terrier Hardcover – October 19, 2007

I've been breeding and showing Lakeland Terriers for 50 years. The dogs and I enjoyed the hunt field and working terrier trials in the past and their instincts remain strong. This book is totally focused on the working, vermin exterminating game little terrier in its own historical landscape. The book offers an excellent historical perspective and points to the divergent tracks taken by show dogs vs. working dogs. For those of us that emphasize the beauty contest of conformation competition it is valuable to be aware and respect our dogs working roots. This book does that well. It is richly illustrated (black & white).

This boook is very informative and the dog on the front cover is a spitting image of myLakeland who came to Floida with me 7.5 years ago! Love the book, its a real treasure!

Great book on Lakies, not a common one to see at the shows. Covers breed history in both show and hunting dogs

Its not that this is a bad book, but this is not the book you are looking for if you are a regular Lakeland Terrier pet owner. This book goes into great detail about the early breeders of the Lakeland Terrier. Doesn't really give much useful info for the new pet owner of this great breed of dog.

bought this for hubby and its quite a heavy read but he likes it, not least for the picture on the front which is just like our dog who is a lakeland/jack russell cross

This book about a most interesting breed of dog provides a well researched and detailed history of this beguiling and lively animal. The book contains some interesting photographs which put flesh onto the narrative. It is clear that the author went to great lengths to interview breeders and others in order to produce this seminal work. This book is well written.
