The kit arrives in a bag without instructions, so I wouldn't recommend this kit for anyone inexperienced with electronics. That said, the circuit board is easy to build if you have some basic electronics understanding. Where it becomes a bit trickier is building the cube of LEDs. There's no template or jig included in the kit, so I made one myself from a piece of wood. The LEDs consist of 8 layers of an 8 x 8 matrix. Spacing is 15mm between LEDs, and the cathode is common. The bag of LEDs supplied says 1000 pieces - there isn't, there's just enough to complete the 8x8x8 design with a few spare, so don't waste too many. Also, it is important to get the geometry of the LED legs correct so take your time. I'd also suggest having a continuity tester available, either a meter or something home made, as there are a lot of solder joints to complete when building the LED cube. A means of testing each panel is also needed to avoid disappointment later on - all this needs is a 3 volt supply to test each panel. I used a couple of batteries and pieces of wire to check each LED lights properly.In summary a good fun kit to build and the end product produces some interesting patterns. I would have given this 5 stars if a template had been included and also some basic instructions. Those things aside, it's hard to complain at this price.
