Noise reduction packed with features and functionality
The Protear DAB+ head phones are a game changer for hearing protection and communication for me as a professional gardener and landscaping. During long periods of maintenance I can listen to my favourite radio stations or connect to Bluetooth when I want to listen to my playlists or podcasts. I no longer miss phone call's whereas before I would often miss calls having to fumble for my phone. There are better quality sounding headsets and higher level of noise reduction using dedicated ear defenders on the market but nothing that offers both together with functionality ease of use in the Protear headphones. I find them comfortable even during long periods of use. The battery life is great once charged up I can use them continuously for a couple of days before they need a charge. Overall I would highly recommend them for situations where you need the hearing protection and can easily be contacted while listening to your favourite sounds. In my view they are great value for money and now an essential pice kit. Customer service are prompt and very helpful. This being my 2nd pair, after managing to brake my original set haven dropped them from height carrying out tree work. After contacting customer service for a replacement part they offered a new set instead as a good will gesture.Get yourself a pair I promise you will love them.

Amazing ear defenders and fantastic customer service
These ear defenders are great and I can now listen to music and podcasts while using my loud machines. The sound quality is surprisingly good and the DAB reception is perfect where I am in the UK. I had a fault with them and the customer service at protear was amazing - they sent me a brand new pair straight away!

Poor and not worth the money at all
Poor product. Poor FM reception. No DAB reception and would not Bluetooth connect. Will be paying more happily for a Pelter 3M set.I noted that ear padding was soft but ear enclosure was insufficient leaving no space for a comfortable ear.

Good. A great way to pass the time doing diy
The ear defenders work great - I don’t hear the wife and kids. Even when I do hear them then the radio station (DAB) does the job. It’s a shame there’s no settings for treble, bass etc as it lacks the depth but then again having a rave in your headset defeats the object of ear defenders. Well built, charge lasts about 6 hours if not more. I’ve not made any calls via the headset so can’t comment on that. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with a carry case to protect them when not in use.

Great product
This is the second pair of these that I’ve now got I love the new colour green as always great reception no interference from garden machinery blocks out a decent amount of noise. It’s great that you can get replacement battery and replacement pads overall would recommend great product DAB works well connects to your mobile phone so you never missed a call and you can stream music, etc

Quality Headphones
I am really pleased with this product. It gives really crisp audio which is loud enough to always be heard. It is strong and can withstand been dropped while working. Some headphones can be really tight however this one fits perfectly to the head and does not become uncomfortable after long periods of time.Strongly recommended!

Do not waste your money
Very good in cancelling noise out but listening to music is very tiny with no base very poor quality music wise the price you pay for these you may as well just go out and buy a pair of normal ear defenders definitely would not recommend purchasing these if you think you're going to get good quality sound very disappointed

Fine for what they are
I was manufacturing a huge batch of small wooden parts and had hours of sanding ahead of me. I couldn't listen to music with the dust extractor running and ear defenders on, but there was no way I could get through the job without some entertainment. So I went searching for some Bluetooth ear defenders and found these, with the advantage of having an inbuilt radio. Not only that but DAB+ too, which was a plus for me.The ear defenders themselves are nicely designed with a strong spring-steel headband wrapped in faux leather and a decent amount of cushioning on the ear cups themselves. There's a foam pad inside the ear cup which is one of the primary means of sound isolation. There's room for them to have added more isolating foam to cut noise even further, but they do block out most of the noise produced by machines such as vacuums, saws and sanders. If I was milling timber with a planer or thicknesser I would probably go for a better pair of standard ear defenders as I don't think they'd block out that rack-it sufficiently. The controls are positioned within easy reach on the left cup and the battery is in a compartment on the right. You get a volume knob which is handy and saves fiddling around to find a small button, and you also get buttons to control the radio which double up as play / pause, and skip buttons when you have them paired with a Bluetooth device. There are presets to store radio stations, and a microphone to take calls though I haven't tried these features. Sadly there's no way to trigger Siri when paired with an iPhone, which would have been incredibly useful.Bluetooth pairing worked straight away, as did the FM radio. Sadly the DAB+ radio is terrible. Even after a full scan it hardly picks up any stations, even ones that have a strong signal in my area and that other radios have no trouble picking up. The FM radio is decent if a bit hissy and it is in true stereo. The poor quality of the DAB+ reception was a major letdown for me as it was one of the reasons I spent extra on this model, over the standard version with an analogue radio or Bluetooth only. And the sound quality really isn't great. It's tinny and a bit shrill especially at high volume. If you've already damaged your hearing through exposure to loud machines, and have lost most of your ability to hear high frequencies, it probably won't bother you. But if you've looked after your hearing you'll probably find them quite unpleasant to listen to for music, especially if you turn up the volume to enjoy a good song over a loud machine. They're decent for podcasts and talk radio, but for music you're better off using bluetooth earbuds with standard ear defenders over the top. They did serve their purpose in that they got me through the hours of monotonous sanding. But I can't say I'll be reaching for them very often. They're not as good as a standard pair of ear defenders when it comes to blocking out noise, the DAB+ radio doesn't work, and the sound is way below average considering what is possible with today's headphone technology. For half the price they'd be decent value, but at £100 I do feel I could have put my money to better use - especially considering I could have saved £20 by opting for the version without the DAB+ feature, which doesn't work anyway. If you need some entertainment in a noisy environment, they might work for you. If you listen exclusively to podcasts or talkshows, they might work for you. If you want ot listen to some decent music on some decent headphones and protect your ears from loud machinery, look elsewhere.
